Lessons dont tell you the exact distance of the front of the sand trap and they also dont tell tou the slope.

I've used a garmin watch for a while now and it doesn't account for slope/flag placement etc. I used it for over half a year but after getting a cheap range finder from my father and using it at the course has helped a ton. Sometimes I'm fine just using the laser only plus I'll use it at the range esp when going to a new or different range from normal. Not to mention knowing ranges for chipping areas and longer putts. So if you're on the fence simply about Needing a range finder or the benefits if you don't have one or just use a watch that has the limitations mine has, I would recommend trying one out.

The problem with using it for hunting / shooting is the range. Rangefinders are more useful as your target gets farther from your zero. This one is a 200+ meter rangefinder. I wouldn't expect it to do anything useful on a brownish animal at 500m.

I like the apps but the only problem with them is sometimes they are wonky to get working. I've had GPS issues before, app crashing issues, and one time where it got stuck trying to download the course map (it doesn't download it until you actually are on-site and start the round).

So it's nice to have something cheap like this as a backup for those days when the app or phone is in a bad mood and doesn't feel like working.
