Not true. The golf apps are no where near as accurate as these.

Per the Amazon reviews, it has some issues with giving consistent yardage readings...which is the point of these devices. For $70, seems like you are getting what you paid for and there are better options in the $120-200 price range.

I would think with golf apps that do the same thing this kind of tech is basically obsolete.
True to some degree, but a phone app gives approximates based on GPS and a laser gives LIVE readings to an object. For most golfers the approximate distance works, but can also be the difference between being on the green or being short/long, etc...

Waste of money. Spend it on lessons. Lase two times out a guy was spotting every damn shot, taking time, but was quite proud of his 96 (including some 4' gimmies his buddy gave him}.

Need a good range finder, but I'm going to wait for Costco rangefinder to go back to $99

To each their own. I went with a Garmin golf specific watch instead of a scope and find it surprisingly accurate for front and back of green distances. Aiming for the pin is for suckers IMO.

Reviews make this a pass. The Costco caddytek is pretty good and even the lower end precision pro is good. Worth the extra money for something you use every round. Range finders > gps watches > golf apps. I have tried them all.

Apps are fine
Not dead nuts on
But good enough
Should you want to finish your round with an app when CH or RU start lobbing projectiles ...GPS will be down and youre screwed
