I must be dumb. Can you help me understand why this is only helpful if you have twins?
Two for price of one? Lol

New soon to be parent and very confused with all the brands and models. Is this a good car seat? How does it compare to car seat which has arm which goes to bottom for extra support and what is the difference between mesa and mesa v2?
You can definitely buy this and the stroller separately, though.

Yes, this attaches directly to a Vista V2. You just click it in and push the button on the top when you want to take it back out.
I got this seat a few months ago and absolutely love it. This is a great car seat. It's easy to install and to use on a daily basis. The fabric can go in the washing machine and Uppababy has lots of videos online, for example on how to remove / reinstall the fabric.
I was originally looking at a Chico Keyfit in store but didn't like the material. This one looks and feels much nicer. If I recall correctly, Consumer Reports and/or Baby Gear Lab also gave it a great rating, only complaining about the price.
I recently took the seat to my local fire department for a safety inspection and they were raving about it. You can also schedule a free video call with Uppababy for an installation check / safety inspection or when you need help with something.
Check out this link to compare this model with the one that was just released:

This is great but if you are price sensitive the net cost including the stroller may still be cheaper with another system.
