3 trade ins later, no issues
iPhone 7 32GB has $290 trade-in value if anyone's interested in.
Being critical of google doesn't mean they're an apple fanboy... a fair amount of people did seem to have issues with their trade ins. Though I'm sure there are far more that have had theirs go without a problem (I'm in this category).

if I trade in an iphone 8, is the money they give me in the form of a store credit or a refund to your card?

so to buy the 6a I have to pay $450 out of pocket and hopefully get some credit back in the form of store credit or credit to my card in the future? let me know

"total after trade-in: $102.73" it's got to be taxed on pre-tradein value. No way to get it for $65

Idk why some people are having such issues with it. I have a screen protector on mine and it still works fine. It definitely isn't a huge improvement over the 4a.
At this point it's fair to blame Google for the quality control and its hardware problems. Way too many people complain about the fingerprint reader and overheating issues. Good amount of units are affected. Definitely, a quality control issue

I was tempted but I think I will stay still with my oneplus 8 as there isn't much of a difference.
The oneplus 8 is a better device. I have both. The screen on the oneplus 8 is better plus the cpu is better in some measurements, while it trails the pixel 6a in others... Oneplus 8 barely ever gets warm, while the pixel 6a can get a bit on the hot side. Software updates can still improve things a lot and I'm sure they will. The lengthy support by Google for the pixel 6a speaks in its favor.
For the price of the pixel 6a when trading an iphone 7/8 or the samsung a71 5g you cannot go wrong. I got 3 pixel 6a phones and don't regret it one bit.
Considering the price after trade-in there is nothing better you can buy unless buying a used or perhaps a refurbished device.

Unbox, connect to WiFi and update the software, first there is a smaller update and then afterwards the android 13 update. Then reboot one more time, then factory reset it. Then set up as you wish.

Just about every phone released has issues until they fix things up as much as possible with the software updates (times we live in unfortunately). The fingerprint issue is non-existent after the updates. I have 3 of them, I guess I would know if it was still an issue. The phone does get warm/on the hot side when pushed extremely, most users will never experience this...
Battery life is not an issue as initially reported. I think that was the case for just about every phone released in the past 10 years or so. Don't believe me, look up the forum threads for each phone on xda developers or other sites...
Considering the price after trade in this device is top notch!

my pixel 6 def gets super hot... so I highly doubt Google will ever fix that and the speakers are terrible. That's just my experience on the 6 though

How long did it take to get your credit?

Question, how long did it take them to receive and issue you a refund. Not sure trading in an XR and paying $100 is worth it
Got two 6a phones - two Pixel 3a's traded in:
  • Trade-ins delivered to their facility Sep 1
  • "Trade-in received & reviewing" emails on Sep 12 (11 days after actual receipt)
  • First $300 refund approved Sep 14
  • Second $300 refund approved Sep 15
The trade-in facility is swamped so expect 7-10 days delay for them to acknowledge receipt of your trade-in.

Posting here as well as there are many threads regarding the pixel 6a.

For those interested in the performance of the pixel 6a.
Something interesting I noticed is the boot up time from a powered off state.
It is FAST! about 15s to initial boot and 20-25s to load widgets and network. About twice as fast as my OnePlus 8 (granted the OnePlus 8 has a lot more applications installed and less free space but that should not have such a big impact afaik).

I sent my phone in monday. It arrived yesterday. Got the email that they received my trade in this morning (Thursday).
