For the price of the pixel 6a when trading an iphone 7/8 or the samsung a71 5g you cannot go wrong. I got 3 pixel 6a phones and don't regret it one bit.
Considering the price after trade-in there is nothing better you can buy unless buying a used or perhaps a refurbished device.
Unbox, connect to WiFi and update the software, first there is a smaller update and then afterwards the android 13 update. Then reboot one more time, then factory reset it. Then set up as you wish.

Battery life is not an issue as initially reported. I think that was the case for just about every phone released in the past 10 years or so. Don't believe me, look up the forum threads for each phone on xda developers or other sites...
Considering the price after trade in this device is top notch!
when return windows are closed after 2 weeks, they credited 10% of payment amount.
- Trade-ins delivered to their facility Sep 1
- "Trade-in received & reviewing" emails on Sep 12 (11 days after actual receipt)
- First $300 refund approved Sep 14
- Second $300 refund approved Sep 15
The trade-in facility is swamped so expect 7-10 days delay for them to acknowledge receipt of your trade-in.For those interested in the performance of the pixel 6a.
Something interesting I noticed is the boot up time from a powered off state.
It is FAST! about 15s to initial boot and 20-25s to load widgets and network. About twice as fast as my OnePlus 8 (granted the OnePlus 8 has a lot more applications installed and less free space but that should not have such a big impact afaik).
