FYI Fire Toolbox is limited on newest Fire OS. I forgot to disable OTA on my daughter's HD8 and now Play Store is broken and won't install nor update apps.

Got mine and had no issues redeeming the free caseable case.
Set it up and it was on FireOS 7.3.2.2 which Fire Toolbox has some issues with (can't disable lock screen ads, can't disable over the air updates)
Once registered, chatted with Amazon and they removed the lockscreen ads for free. Fired up the Fire Toolbox and ran the de-amazon button to get rid of some Amazon bloatware. Ran the Google Services so I can get the Play store set up. Changed the Fire Keyboard to the Google Keyboard.

Overall worth ~$30. Didn't want to install a custom OS, so for my needs, the Fire OS with some tweaks will work well.

Can you please elaborate how to contact Amazon and chat with their rep and have them removed the lockscreen ads for free?

I purchased the same tablet and try to do the same. Any advice and insight will be highly appreciated.

Hey there, I don't remember the exact message I sent, but try this:

  1. After your tablet is registered/set up...
    2. 

  2. Go here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/contact-us/foresight/hubgateway
    3. 

  3. Click "Help with something else"
    4. 

  4. Click Kindle, Fire, or Alexa Device
    5. 

  5. Click Fire Tablet
    6. 

  6. Click General question about the device/accessory
    7. 

  7. Click Special Offers/Adds as a screensaver on device
    8. 

  8. Click I need more help
    9. 

  9. Click Start chatting now
    10. 

  10. Once the chat connects, let the rep know the ads on the lockscreen
are getting in the way of notifications/making your tablet slow/etc.
& if they can assist with removing the Special Offers from your lockscreen

  11. If it doesn't work, wait and try later. It worked on the first try for me,
but apparently not all reps will do it, so you might need to try again.
