Also check manufacture date on the box before you open these. They all have 10 year max lives and will automatically deactivate at year ten (by law)

On sale because they're all old stock, half the life half the price.

Who else got a cancellation and is a little disappointed but somehow knew it was to good to be true because Walmart stock for pickup on deals like this is always a gamble. Anyone?
Got a cancellation for a store that is 30min away, which I was thinking was too far to make it worthwhile. Ordered at a store 45 minutes away and order is ready for pickup now. Really not worth the trip, but if I end up being closer for another reason, I might pick it up.

Can you please provide more info on Inonizing detector? is it a separate item ?
No reason to get an ionizing detector because those are the type that expire after 10 years. This detector is photoelectric, which doesn't expire, but will be disabled after 10 years due to the CO detector that does expire.

Some people recommend ionizing detectors because they tend to be more responsive to hot and rapidly burning fires, whereas photoelectric are more sensitive to smoldering fires.

When my ionizing detectors die, I'm replacing them all with photoelectric.

The "killer" feature is actually the interconnected feature not smart phone alerts.

Especially if you DONT have existing wiring everywhere in the house, if 1 detects they all alarm(even battery versions). Good the co2 is in basement and ur sleeping
If you have them in a Google Home, you can send audio to any device that supports it and with Nest Sense, it can relay any smoke alarm noise throughout your house in addition to all the other tasks you can have Google run (like sending a text to a family member if the smoke detector is on for more than a couple minutes).

I would assume most people buying these don't only have the smoke detectors, as there's far cheaper/better solutions that aren't tied to the Google ecosystem.

A better setup, imo, is a mix of WiFi and ZWave detectors, as you have extra redundancy in case you don't have internet.

I have an external hub that supports a SIM card and landline, meaning it can still phone out and send texts in an emergency.

Don't be too anxious to replace a smoke alarm that is several years old but still within its service life. Alarms are getting more and more annoying and difficult to live with.

The Nest Protect can decide that your bacon (or Impossible Burger) frying is an actual fire, and refuse to silence itself even if you are standing right underneath it and telling it that there is no actual fire. Smoke above a certain threshold CANNOT BE SILENCED no way no how.

As a result, I cannot have a smoke alarm anywhere in half my house (open floor plan including kitchen). Unintended consequences. Unfortunately, I believe this is true of all smoke alarms sold in the U.S. in recent years.
At least you know when your bacon is done or the popcorn in the microwave is overdone! (Glass half full)

Mine was supposed to be delivered today, but went from preparing to order placed.

Hah I saw this just after it was posted and ordered. Guess I'll be seeing a cancellation.

Yours was born the 16th week of 2016. You can tell this in the middle of the serial number starting with the 9th character as shown below, xxxxxxxx1616xxxx in the "wwyy" format where ww is the number of the week in the year (yy)

Wrong, the one I picked up today was July 2022 date. Unless you're picking up from the manufacturing plant I would say this is as close as it gets to being new.

shocking it takes a huge store such as Walmart 6 years to sell off it's stock. Anything more than 2 years old should be returned

Just a quick update on my order experience today. Ordered three, one for home delivery which was delivered and the other two were pick up at two different stores. One was canceled in 15 minutes after placing the order and the other about an hour later. So I'm batting 333.
