I'll save you from repeating my mistake. Just go buy Upright Freezers. Thanks me later.

Depends on usage but chest freezers are cheaper, more efficient and easier to store a body. Difficult to retrieve a bag of frozen veggies tho, especially if it's down deep in the freezer and even harder if it's under a frozen body.

I need a deal on an upright freezer

Get both! I keep all the big BBQ cuts of brisket, pork butt, ribs, etc in the chest and more frequently used items go in the upright

I recently bought a smaller chest freezer and I understand what you're saying. 😂 Luckily my daughter showed me how I could still manage to organize things even though it's one big hole, by putting things in large reusable shopping bags. She even helped me color coordinate, red bag for meats, green for vegetables, yellow for fruits (for smoothies, ice-cream, etc), homemade soups and stews are in the big blue bag, Etc. It helps but I really wish I had bought an upright freezer and probably still will. 😉

Is it self defrost? It says freezer to fridge compatible and it has a drain but no mention if this is an automatic process or not.

Not everybody uses them for personal home use. I store cases of bagels in mine and outside of Walk-in, there's no greater product for that purpose.
