This'll be my first time doing so, and I'll be sending in a 2 in 1 dell as well. Looks like they use the BIOS date.

Not sure how old your Trade-in device is or what processor it has? We have some handy tips to help you find this information below. Simply select your Trade-in device's operating system and follow the steps:
Windows Laptop
If your Trade-in unit is a Windows Laptop, follow these steps:
Press the Windows key on your keyboard
Start typing System
Select System Information.
Here you will see the BIOS date, which shows the age of your laptop, as well as the Processor.
If the Windows key is not available on your keyboard, simply right-click the Windows icon located on the bottom-left corner of your screen using your mouse and choose System
It's a little bit confusing, but the page you checked are for the current products that have the trade-in promotion. The laptop requirements that qualify for trade-in are more generalized. Please check the link below instead.

I stay away from any laptop with recognized hinge issues. I've bought two over the past few years that were used carefully, even left open on a desk for 95% of usage just to avoid potential hinge issues, yet all it took was one fateful open/close to break the weak hinge connections. On the other hand, I have a 6 year old Dell 5000 series 2 in 1 that hasnt been babied at all, and not a single issue, with no reports of wide spread hnge issues either. Take the warnings as real, or you might be the next person commenting on these threads about it.

FWIW...I bought overpriced accident/damage protection warranties from the manufacturers before my 1 year original warranty was up, and used that to fix the hinge and immediately sold them after and replaced with laptops that didn't have the issue. Manufacturers (particularly Dell and Lenovo, even bought through Costco) will NOT honor a warranty repair for hinge issues, always claiming it as accident damage and not a manufacturer defect.

Got this last year's deal for 650 from Costco. Shipping and handling were good from Costco but it is a cheap build, with low brightness, hinge looses after 1-year use, and no pen, biggest frustrations is it chose not to lit up 50% of the time when ON , the laptop is ON but screen is blank and have to long press power button and hard reset///// do not but an snd waste yur money
Are they the same model ? since this is very new model , CPU with 400nits and OLED

Will costco accept a non-working screen on a 4 year old laptop? It powers on, but screen is dead.
No It's clearly mentioned that no damage but reasonable wear and tears

I have the 2017 version of the flex 5 14 that was $500: 8GB/128GB/1080p 14"/i5 8th gen quad core

Laptop has been great, and I had no hinge problems over last 5 years. However, the plastic around the hinges and on the backside just broke away, and my screen randomly cracked along the bezels near the hinge. Fortunately not in the display area.

I'm very happy with the laptop but be aware these things could happen with flex 5. Battery life is now at 50% and screen quality isn't great (45% NTSC or so). But really for $500 can't complain. At $800 though, I might.

Different model it seems. Old slick deals link is for a Ryzen system with a 250 nits IPS screen. Build quality is still a concern, but the screen should be night and day different.

Any thoughts about how this Lenovo compares to this HP also qualifying for the rebate? HP seems to be a tad lighter, bigger screen, 1 TB HDD, but not sure how screen compares and the more technical things, appreciate your feedback as I try to pick between the two, thanks!

Looking for a used laptop that qualifies for trade in for less than 100 bucks, whether from best buy, Craigslist, fb marketplace, or local pawn/thrift shops. I guess to determine its not older than 5 years should look at the processor, which for intel ideally at least 9th or 10th gen

I think I saw the i5 version (same specs otherwise) from Costco for like $400 2-3 weeks ago. This price seems high.

Great deal, but as an IT Professional working for DOD, I would steer clear away from Lenovo. Chinese made computers are unreliable and strictly prohibited to use on any government sites due to spyware concerns. I personally had a Lenovo as a computer for college back in the day. That POS broke right after warranty
Makes sense. I'm sure there are no US government agencies have any contracted Lenovo systems right? 🤣
