I bought this about a year ago, the gears inside are absolute garbage and will not last you more than a few days at most.

I bought this in August 2021 from a previous SlickDeal for $8.99 on Amazon. It's a cool product. It was a birthday gift for a friend's 4 year old boy and this was the toy that all the kids gravitated to. Worked well right out of the box. Had to charge the battery first though but no issues. I wouldnt call this a slickdeal at $17.99 but it's not a horrible price. I'd say regular price for this should be around $20 - $25. Definitely not $45.99.

Agree with @BigShotBob on price and performance. We have two of them in use for nearly a year now. Regular usage by toddlers and their friends. Dropped and kicked a few times and still running well. Spare battery was the reason I bought it. Allows for enjoyable length of play time

I had a similar experience. I bought 2 to start. Loved them enough to buy a 3rd when one had issues with the wheels not turning. Replacement came and broke within a month.

I'm pretty sure ours died due to the kids pushing forward when the car was stuck under the couch or fridge and ruined the gears.

I would not recommend for kids under 5 years old. Though I would recommend if they know when to stop driving to avoid breaking it.

These are all about the same. Don't expect more than a few runs before this breaks. That said, the pivoting wheels is a great design. I had a good similar machine 10 years ago and it's the funnest remote control vehicle that doesn't fly out there. That one cost near $100 but it was 2x bigger and lasted nearly a year.
