If just starting... try this one [amazon.com].
If money is no object, and you want the best, then get eneloop rechargeables and a Nitecore UMS4 for instance.
Personally I have 2 Nitecore chargers and a about 40 AA/AAA rechargeables (Tenergy, EBL, amazon, RayHom, Toshiba, eneloop) and in more than 10 years I had to discard only 1 or 2 of them because they did not charge.
I opted for Nitecore chargers because I'm using 18350's almost daily, but if you only care for AA and AAA, then a Duracell, EBL or Tenergy charger should serve you well.

IMPORTANT: sometimes a AA/AAA rechargeable may discharge under 0.8V and as a result many chargers won't recognize and charge the element. In this aspect, Nitecore D2 is a charger that will 'revive' a 'dead' rechargeable, if not having one you should check online how to use another battery and 2 wires to revive the "dead element".

Quote from coolerking101 :
Eneloop brand are the gold standard. There is presently a slick deal for Eneloop Pro AAA batteries and a charger on Amazon if you want to go that route until there is a AA Eneloop deal.

Yeah, I agree with rz5669 that these don't last very long. I've used them in my wireless keyboard and in my security keypad and have had to replace them in both items in less than two months. The keyboard with "name brand" batteries usually last about one year and the keypad beyond that.

Project Farm battery comparison. These scored pretty good.

If you get a batch with one or two bad batteries. Complain to Amazon via chat and get them replaced. They always comply. It sends a message to Amazon that their current supplier is junk. I'd rather put these in my devices than Duracell. Duracells leak very often.
