I know mirrorless is the hot & new trend in digital, but if you're shopping for a DSLR on a budget, this isn't a bad deal. I'm picking this up for my high schooler, so if it's lost/stolen, I'm not out $$$. I've had great experience buying from Canon Refurb store in the past.
I am in need of a 1080-60p camera for video that has face-detect feature. I currently have Canon T3i and a nifty-fifty. I am struggling big-time trying to make simple YouTube videos because it does not seem to be able to keep the focus with slightest moments. Plus I have to have someone sit-in to focus before I can start recording the video.
I have narrowed down my choices to T8i body (I can use nifty-fifty with) and M50 Mark II.
This would be just for indoor video only (for now).
What do you recommend for sub-$800 budget? I was told that T7 is not a good choice for video in my case... do you agree?

And thanks in anticipation.
Make sure your nifty fifty is newer STM lens. Dual pixel auto focus combined with STM lens or Nano USM lens works great for video.
Is this worth it for the lens if I plan to go mirrorless in the future (but maybe body only)?
No, if you plan to upgrade bodies at all, especially to mirrorless, you wouldn't want to use this kit lens.
It's great for entry level DSLRs, but nothing much past that.
If you stick with canon, their mirrorless entry level lenses are the RF18-150 for the R10 and R7, or the RF24-105STM or RF24-240USM for the the R, RP, R5, R6, R3. There are obviously others, but these are their mirrorless entry level lenses that perform leagues better than the kit lenses from DSLRs
