I've never owned a VA panel before but I went from TN to IPS panel back in the days and it's night and day difference. How much worse is VA panel compared to IPS? I know VA has better darkness, but is it worth the compromise in image quality? From what I'm hearing no.
VA is not "worse" than IPS. While IPS allows for higher refresh rates, better color gamut, and better off-angle viewing, VA is far superior when it comes to black levels/contrast. I personally cannot stand the "glow" of an IPS panel, which is especially noticeable in a darker room. Dark scenes look terrible on IPS when put side-by-side with VA.

I had this monitor for 2 years and for the price with its specs it's hard to beat. I just switched to the LG C2 42in and man what a difference, it's on sale for $999. After having OLED TVs it's hard to go back to LCD and the 42in size is not too big once wall mounted

Bought this a while back. It's great. No complaints. The screen is great. Feel like too long or wide for video game. Great for stock trading

I went from VA to IPS I do miss the contrast and dark black of VA when watching movies. IPS glow is really annoying for the movies but it does better in well lit scene. Overall, VA does poorly in motion in black scene but it depends on many factors. IMO IPS is overrated.

I bought this monitor about a year ago. Had some issues with random lines appearing on screen. Started happening about 3-4 months after purchase. Returned to Acer for warranty replacement, they sent me a refurb'd unit. Good monitor, not great. Was defininitely a nice step up from crappy 1080p monitor. I have since upgrade to the Odyssey Neo G9 so this one is just a backup at this point

How are you liking the 49" screen?

I owned the non-Neo version. While I loved the wow factor, the 32:9 ratio is nothing but a gimmick. Nothing supports it, everything is either pillarboxed on the sides or stretched poorly. Maybe it would do okay as a work/stock trade monitor, but it's very overpriced for that purpose. The one positive I'll give it - 1000R is the ONLY way to go on a 32:9. But Samsung's customer service was it's undoing. I tried (and failed) to find a desk mount arm to hold it up. Nothing can do this except one that costs well over $300. In that pursuit, one of the screws stripped in the back of the monitor. Samsung not only immediately invalidated my entire watranty over it, they refused to help, repair it on my own dime, or even offered solutions to repair it on my own. Long story short, I now have the personal number of one of two Samsung regional service managers for the entire U.S. and it literally took threatening a lawyer and writing an official "letter to the president" to get them to play ball. They finally offered a refurb or refund, and I chose the refund to never be put in that position again. No more Samsung products for this household!

you forget to mention the main problem with VA panels

the black smearing when inn motion

only high end VA are worth it, and at the price point high end IPS are also much better
