American Express looks like they're running the 150k sign up bonus again. They've run this promotion a few times in the past, and it's the largest sign up bonus they offer. There was a little disclaimer on the site warning that the deal may not persist, so YMMV in the title just in case. If the deal doesn't show up for you, try an incognito window. Some users have reported that it will eventually show if you just keep starting new sessions. Be sure to close entirely out of incognito each time to ensure you're starting a new session.

Nerdwallet values Amex points at 2ccp [nerdwallet.com], making 150k points worth ~$3000.

after you spend $6,000 on purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months of Card Membership.†

This offer may not be available if you leave this web page and return later.
https://www.americanexpress.com/u.../platinum/

Edit: My bad for not including it the first time through, but this is a premium card that comes with a premium annual fee of $695. The perks will more than pay for it, but you'll have to make sure to use them. Here are the yearly credits that Amex offers with the card.

$200 credit for Hotels
$200 credit for Uber
$200 credit for Flights
$240 credit for Digital Entertainment (Disney+ bundle, Audible, Peacock, SiriusXM or NYT)
$100 for Global entry or TSA pre check
$189 credit for CLEAR airport security check
$100 credit for Saks department stores
$155 credit for Walmart+
$300 credit for Equinox memberships

If you're a crazy person that some how manages to use all of these - it's $1684 worth of credits, nearly $1000 more than the annual fee. However even sane people can easily cover the $695 just by traveling as you normally would.

Pro tip for the $100 Saks credit. Amex gives $50 credit for the first half of the year and another $50 for the second half. You can just go and buy a $50 gift card each time the credit refreshes until you have enough for a big ticket item.

This means the best redemption values are going to come from transferring to airline partners.
Correct- and by a fairly wide margin.

However, for those like myself who have no international travel plans in the next year, it's not as easy. Before the second-year fee kicks in, I would have to pick a transfer partner with hopes of redeeming in the future for airline tickets that I actually need to get close to the $.02/point valuation being touted in this thread.
No you wouldn't.

Amex points don't expire.

You just need to still have open ANY amex card that earns MR, and you keep all the points earned from ALL MR cards including this one.

The Amex Everyday for example earns MR and has no annual fee- as does the blue for business plus again no AF.

Then you've got all the time in the world to use the points for airline transfers at your leisure.
(sooner is still better- since airlines tend to devalue points over time, but you're certainly not on a 1-year clock)

Another option is there's several ways to get 1-1.1 cents per point as cash, with only very minor hoop jumping. It's bad value compared to airline transfers, but still better than most non-airline options:

Thanks for pointing out the option to carry a downgraded card to keep the MR points. That just might work.

Great sign up bonus!!!
I had the Plat last year but switched to Chase for more reward potential and broader VISA network. I just couldn't find any occasions of spending on those credits except hotels, uber, flights.

Any feedback on the best method to cash out the points for more than a statement credit? I'm assuming the normal cash out methods thru Amex would net 1cpp/$1500?

If you have gotten an amex platnium buisness card sign up bonus, are you still eligible for a personal card sign up bonus?

Still trying to get the 150k offer to pop up, about 20 to 30 incognito attempts in. Even though I am not confident of using the full uber, hotel, or clear (is there really a benefit here for families traveling when we already have global entry??) I am thinking the points are worth it. Never had a lounge access card so not sure on that as I normally prefer to not drink when traveling.

Any other recommendations for forcing the 150k offer?

Thanks

Use it like a debit card and pay for everything you can with it, bills and all and then pay it off at the end of each billing cycle.

There are several easy ways to hit the minimum spend. Just google or search on reddit.
