Sort the reviews by most recent, they're pretty telling about the quality of metal frame (or lack thereof). But I haven't seen any complaints regarding the slats. There have been so many bed deals in the past that required a box spring or slats and it wasn't worth it because those that's an extra $80 at least.

I have one and been using for over 3 years. The frame starts making noise after 2 years of usage. But not too noisy that would bother me that much. I only sleep by myself. 210lb for your reference.

Depends on the bed design but the width of the slats and the box spring should be the same / similar. You would just not have the elevation of the box spring. Unless specifically the mattress needs a box spring or you have some special design bed frame.
