I've bought these several times over the years and I've used them as inexpensive gifts, pots and pans that stay in a cabin to use over a wood stove and campfire, in the actual kitchen and i have two sets that I use in my workshop chem lab.

The non-stick are trash, the coating does not last very long. I bought one non-stick and even with light use with plastic utensils it's still broke down and started peeling in less than 6 months.

The stainless steel however is a good value in my opinion. That isn't because I think the build quality is amazing or anything, it isn't, it's fairly cheaply built and the stainless steel walls in the pots and pans are pretty thin. The reason why I think they are good value is because they are stainless steel and they hold up tremendously well compared to non-stick. Because they are thin walled you really can't use high heat for anything except boiling, but for slower cooked med. heat meals, sauces, etc they work great. Especially with acidic food like tomato sauces.

If you're intentionally trying to sear or pan fry food, this works out great. If you're trying to quickly make pancakes at a higher heat, you're going to have some unevenly cooked and/or burnt pancakes.

These are inexpensive pans that have very specific cooking characteristics that need to be acknowledged when you use them, otherwise you're going to have problems. 🍳

If nothing else, you can get yourself a whole bunch of spare lids for your other pots and pans. 😅
I have the non-stick kit. I got this kit last year for the same price. I cook every day, and after a year of use, I still can't recommend it highly enough. It's great.
Got the same deal for the stainless steel ones. For the price, the pots are decent. The P and are kind of ok. Mostly on the thin side, so controlling the temperature is harder than normal. The plastic utensils are just garbage, used one, and left it on a pan after frying something, and it just started melting. Dupned them right in the garbage. Overall, for the price they are ok. Mostly using them as throwaway to learn how to cook on SS

Is this last act item? Macy's says last act items are not returnable or exchangeable if we don't like.

I agree with you. SS is a bit of a learning curve. IMO it's a lot more durable than the none stick. I've never heard of a SS going bad. And good thing is you can put it into the oven. None stick can't put into the oven.

? I've had one sauce pan (regular not nonstick) someone gave me over 10 years ago and it is still here and working fine. I liked it enough that I bought one of these sets 5 years ago. Those are fine also. Are these high quality? No. Do they work and hold up? Mine have. Just don't buy the cheap non-stick stuff, those will go in the trash.

I've owned a set for 5+ years and cook frequently. Still going strong with minimal wear on the Teflon coating. The key is to not use metal utensils on it. These definitely aren't the highest quality but they're good enough and they're very durable.
