I have these and love them, they are placed in lots of common areas.

Just a FYI these do not work on GFCI outlets used in bathroom and kitchen areas
I am very weary of running 110V electric to the front of my cover plate, if the plat cracks, can a kid get electrocuted to death… yes?

Sorta why the electricity is not at the cover plate and is protected behind a thick outlet.
I've been involved in many UL certifications as a manufacturer. They don't mean jack. You should never assume something is safe just because it is UL.

Seriously. Who has just one outlet? That "who needs 5?" statement alone is enough to make me question their intelligence.
You don't know, maybe they live in a supply closet.

Doesn't seem like the benefit of this product outweighs the potential worry and risk of a possible disastrous situation. I've managed the past 20 years without them in my home, so it will be hard pass here.

Yes, I hate to be the guy that posts something 10x more expensive and says "why not this" but in this case, I would NOT play with an unlisted product touching my home outlet internals. This screams bad idea, and who needs 5? I would take a name brand, UL listed product and not worry about burning down my house or other nightmares.

If you want it installed, do something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/GE-Grounding-Receptacle-Resistant-40967/dp/B07KGH48VG?source=ps-sl-shoppingad... [amazon.com]

If you want it temporary do something like this:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Sylvania-Automatic-LED-Night-Light-with-Integrated-Outlet-60802/30976268... [homedepot.com]
Everyone needs to be that guy, no one wants the house to burn down

Please do question my intelligence, I do constantly. I was saying who needs 5 nightlights, not outlets. I have 4.5 bathrooms in my house and 5 kids, I think I have 3-4 nightlights currently, but I think I'm an outlier in terms of needing nightlights. Regardless, I think these are dangerous.
6 bedroom/4 bathroom, finished basement, 4 kids, a son-in-law and almost always have friend of the kids or relatives staying over and worry about them seeing at night. Currently have over a dozen "night lights" in bathrooms, open kitchen area, foyer, hallways, rec room, younger children's bedrooms, etc. I was very interested in replacing them with these types of lights as they don't use an outlet and aim down so no reflections on TVs. After reading all these comments I'm not sure if this is a good idea. My huskies just recently cracked a plate from running into it while playing and sounded like that could have been much worse with one of these (true?).

I think big company you can sue is the best guarantee. UL and CE together is the next bet.

I am not a doctor but I think that in order for electricity to cause serious harm it needs to travel through our body, such as through our heart. For the equipment here there are no wires. The distance the electricity travels is very small. It might sting and cause a burn but hopefully nothing more serious. I am only speculating but many others are only speculating here.
As an engineer, this was all explained to us. The key is don't let the electricity pass through your heart -which happens when one hand is touching power and the other ground Long ago we were told If you MUST work on live power, only use one hand. (so the power is not directly though the heart). NOW using insulated gear is the proper way and urge everyone without proper training to NEVER work on a live circuit. If you need to ask, this is not for you.

I live in a pretty new house and all my outlets seem to be 'rounded' (1 screw set-up); so these would NOT fit??

you're going to be in for a huge shock when you learn what the short slotted hole is on a receptacle! EEK!, Or that a lot of metal boxes or mudrings are flush with the sheetrock and can get energized! So much fear!

These are not a good idea, full stop. Lots of people asking questions so, since I'm here, I'll do my best. The LEDs are very low voltage, yes, but these covers have prongs that reach "into" the electrical box and touch the sides of the outlet, where there are exposed screws/wires, and pull the electricity from there. The LEDs are low voltage, the outlet is not. Should the wiring that makes up this thing be poorly done, it could short, overheat, and cause a fire in the wall. Very very rare, yet very very dangerous. Cracking the plate could also cause such a problem. Very unlikely to cause someone to be electrocuted, but again I would never use these and find out. There are plenty of better products (such as those I listed earlier) that act as night lights, are directional, and don't take up the plug space. I have 7 beds, but no basement! Smilie

These can't be used where an outlet is controlled by a switch.

People with glaucoma can benefit from multiple "nightlights" if they need to get out of bed in the middle of the night.

The ones sold on Groupon and woot look the same, as well as the description being used. If this is true, then be wary of what you get. People are complaining of getting blue or yellow LEDs and you can't tell which color led you get until you plug it in.

I'm taking the plunge anyway as if I don't like them I can always return them
That happened to me
I bought the Groupon deal for $10.00
3 of them had yellow LED's and 2 of them had blue

Can't find if it has a light/brightness switch.
