This company is excellent. I had a seat back made with blue fabric, there was some pilling happening on it and I told them. They sent a replacement back immediately. Can't ask for better.
I've sat in all the HM, Steelcase, Humanscale, HON, and Global chairs. I ended up getting the Leap (and have bought or acquired leaps and Amias since) because I found the fit to be most comfortable to compared to the major contenders. There was a Global chair that I was strongly considering, but I ended up feeling a refurbished Leap was the best deal at the time. The Gesture looks the coolest out of the Steelcase chairs, but I found it to actually be inferior from a lower back and arm comfort/adjustability perspective compared to the Leap and Amia.
As for Herman Miller, I found the Sayl to be the most comfortable, funnily enough. The Embody came in second due to its upper back rest being too narrow and the arms lacked adjustability for the price. Then the Aeron was third, mainly just due to the fact that I don't love mesh seat cushions.
I highly recommend everyone sit in these chairs if you have a showroom or distributor nearby. The ones I went to will actually order one for you at great prices - possibly even lower than what is posted here. I could have bought an Embody for like $900 or less, brand new, from what I remember. But that was 4 or so years ago.
People who sit down on a job for 7+ hours a day and care about the longterm health of their back and well being. People under 30 usually dont care about anything that goes on with their body, but after that age you can start feeling the neglect and you can't turn back the hands of time.

I'm sure these are nice but who on SD is spending this much on a chair
Those that can afford it? As another poster mentioned, if you are sitting in a chair 6 to 8 hours a day, the chair is comfy, and hopefully last 5 to XX years, then it could be worth it.
I've been sitting on a big box Office Depot lazy boy $200 pleather chair for last two years, and so far it's been working for me.
