Couldn't replicate any of these deals. Used multiple sites. Princess is garbage anyway.
Don't go through expedia or any of those sites, book directly through princess. I was able to get the best deal that way. I booked a 5 day / 6 night cruise out of San Francisco for 2 people in a Balcony for just under $1,000 out the door after taxes and fees. That's an amazing price.

im a new cruise goer here and had a couple questions. i want to go with a friend and was curious if you usually get a better rate/room if you book the trip as a couple or does it not matter. also, what are some tips and tricks to save on any kinds of fees or surcharges they add

also, do any of these sites accept paypal?

Here's the website I use the most: https://www.vacationstogo.com/

On the left of the screen, you can set different criteria such as month, region etc. to select the cruise of your choice. You can also filter the list by low to high prices.

My choice of room type is usually based on price difference and the number of "sea day" (no port stop). It does not make much difference for the room type if there is no sea day since you only use your room mostly night time.
is it worth to get Princess Plus over Standard? Plus covers Crew appreciation of $14.5 per guest per day and currently gives me a $50 promo credit per guest. Wifi is $9.99 per day. so for a 5 day trip, these add to $175 (75 + 50 + 50) per guest. But I am seeing a price difference of over $250 between Standard and Plus. Only the other thing you can get from Plus is the beverage credit (12 each, even it is per day credit, it is just 60 per guest). So it does not seem to be worth of buying Plus. Am I correct?

If I'm on a cruise, I'm typically not in my room unless it is to sleep or shower. Literally all my other time is occupied by being on the top decks where you can see the ocean, or going to some sort of event like comedy shows and stuff like that, or eating. I always cheap out on the room because I don't need/want it.
Exactly, i am the same

I am the exact opposite. I love relaxing on my own private balcony and reading or eating, then going into my room and taking a nap or something. I wish I was the other way around, I could get a cheaper room lol

Sorry, I am not sure if I understand your math correctly. You can basically deduct the $14.50 tip per day from the $50 because it will be automatically charged to your account without the "Plus" package. After $10 for wifi, you have $25 left for the drinks. An average drink is around $10 plus 18% gratuity. You are ahead if you order more than 2 drinks per day.

Personally, I don't use internet onboard and I don't drink enough to go for these packages.

I always compare rates between the cruise company website versus travel agency's. If they have the same rate, it is best to book directly from the cruise company. For example, I booked a balcony room for 10-day Mexican cruise leaving SFO on 1/6/2023 for around $680 plus taxes and fees from vacationtogo.com. It would cost $400 more per person if I book the same type of room directly from Princess.

The rate is based on the number of passengers per room regardless of their relationship. There is not much you can do about the port fees and taxes. You can fill out a form at guest service once you are onboard to change the amount of gratuities or have them removed completely. Keep in mind that a big part of cruise staff income comes from passenger gratuities. They split the tips among all the staff with the biggest portion goes to housekeeper and the restaurant staff. Most of these folks work over 10 hours per day 7 days a week for up to 9 months at a time. Many of them are parents with young kids back in their countries. Please think twice before you cut down on the gratuities.

On the other hand, there are different ways you can save money on your cruise. Check your credit card account to see if you can get statement credit or cashback for your cruise. American Express usually has up to $250 credit for certain cruise booking, same for BofA account. For regular cruisers like myself, I own100 shares of Carnival stock (currently around $900). I get up to $250 onboard credit for all my cruises with Carnival, Princess, and Holland America as a "shareholder". You can also put deposit of $250 for your future princess cruise and you can use it as a $500 credit applied toward your future cruise within 3 years (I saw this info couple days ago but can longer find it).

I dont think removal of gratuities is an option on all cruises, for eg. Carnival will decline that request for you, that is not an option or wasnt one 3 years ago.
