Consider getting a traditional card(Holiday card) write some well wishes, and write the code with maybe a message like "Try this code on your Xbox". That way it is a total surprise.
Yes, the DLC will work if playing on Game Pass. Of course, if the main game leaves Game Pass, you'll lose access. But if you later buy the game, DLC can be accessed again.

I'm still unlocking rides in Forza 3 and giving them Pepe makeovers 🐸. Might make it to this version by 2059.
Yeah, Horizon 3 Platinum Plus was my only front-page deal. I have SO MANY HOURS in FH3 just driving around FAAAAASSSSSSTTTTT. I stopped playing for a while, but seeing this thread is going to make me play again. I love the cars in the DLCs, my favorite visually is the 73 Ford Falcon XB in "Big Bopper" paint, even though it drives like crap.

If Horizon 5 is your first game of the series you'll love it. If you've been around for a while, it's warts are evident. Online still sucks and this whole "games as a service" bs is getting old. Not to mention all the ways that wheelspin rewards have been nerfed (instead of fixing the exploits, they just made the rewards suck for everybody as a balance).

Feels weird to have purchased both DLC at launch, with one taking 9 months to release, and who the hell knows on the 2nd. The older Horizon games had both DLC out by now if it matters.

I only have base horizon 4 for experience. What is your favorite forza? By the looks of the comment section, 3 seems to be peak forza horizon

The jump from 2 to 3 was huge, so that helped, and the weather aspects really showed what they could pull out of the Xbox One. Plus it had 2 solid DLC expansions, whereas 4 had Lego which was hit or miss for some. Fortune Island wasn't even all that great compared to previous island expansions.

And like I said about 5, in prior years, we had the 2nd expansion right around E3 of the following year, so we're way behind that schedule.

Too bad it's just the DLC and doesn't include the base game.

I was pretty frustrated with 5 when I went to install it and it was over 100gig update download even with the game on the disc. When you don't have the zippiest of internet - that is substantial.

For those of you who don't already own the game, I just bought the Premium Edition two weeks ago for approx. $60 USD:

https://www.eneba.com/xbox-forza-...ted-states

I've been playing it in Windows 10 with my current gear and the Force Feedback has been great!
  • Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro Wheel Base (8 Nm)
  • Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel Formula V2.5 with QR1 Quick Release Adapter
  • Fanatec ClubSport Pedals V3 with Brake Performance Kit
That said, the game kept freezing on me randomly. After hours of troubleshooting, the culprit was Fanatec Driver verison 439. Once I went to 440 or later (I'm on the latest 447 now), the freezing went away and now the game runs flawlessly.

I cannot for the life of me get my setup to work with a clutch, something to do with button configuration assignments in the settings? I give up...

I personally disable the clutch pedal and use paddle shifting for all my games because that's what I use in my real car. That said, the button assignment and wheel config in the FH5 leaves a lot to be desired, that's for sure!

Not only do I have to run my GT DD Pro Wheel Base in "PC Compatability Mode" (which I don't have to do for any of my other games like ACC or anything by CodeMasters), but some of the button assignments just don't work. For example, I have "Rewind" set to Button #3 and "Rewind More" set to Button #4, but the latter never works. I have to use a mouse.

I'm actually OK with this. It most likely means the DLC was completed after launch instead of being completed by launch where it could have just shipped with the game in the first place.

I see, I have had cars in recent years that have been DSG cars with paddle shifters but I grew up on manual transmissions and really like to row through the gears with my gated Thrustmaster shifter. I also like to drive with the shifter if the car I'm driving in the game is a manual, and if it's an automatic then I use the paddles. Alas, maybe it was not meant to be, FH4 after the 4k series x update also has problems…

Agree. FH4 was my first, and I found the mix of progression/ownership semi-addicting: I owned/completed all the businesses, the progression arc was at least semi-believable, and the tone was tongue in cheek that veered near clever at times. Was so excited for FH5, and while it's definitely a solid play, the small music selection, the lack of ownership stories, starting out as a superstar, and the Spanglish tropes/stereotypes kept me from enjoying it as much. Clearing the map was more of a task than an excuse to keep playing.

I also didn't really dig the first DLC very much. The thing that makes me love FH and other driving games is a good mix of realism (the cars, the graphics, some of the physics) with the ridiculous (no issues flying through a field in a car with a 3" ground clearance). Lego and Hot Wheels took away enough realism for me to essentially find them boring. But based on how the community feels about the previous HW DLC, I may be in the tiny minority here.

But if you like FH5, this seems like a solid deal. VIP is great for double the in-game prize money, Car Pass is nice if you like collecting, and obviously the DLCs. I paid $45 for it at launch and think I overpaid a bit. $25-30 seems about right to me.

Forza Horizon is a fantastic game and it's one of the few that doesn't give me FOMO even if I stop playing for a bit. Also, I sometimes just pick out a D or C class stock car and drive around enjoying the scenery lol. I've had an instance where arandom player just drove behind me and we just followed each other around for a bit. It was quite a wholesome experience.

Last time i checked, Walmart has the game for 30 bucks.
i don't have the game. Wish I knew the game was on sale for $30. Was it for the PC? I know PC version is rarely on sale for pretty much any new game nowadays.

No guarantee they will do the same, but when Forza 7 was delisted any GP users who purchased DLC for the game was given a free copy.
