An antiperspirant uses the active ingredient aluminum to prevent odor mainly by preventing sweating (the bacteria that causes the smell thrives the best in moist environments). A deodorant, does not contain aluminum, thus does not prevent sweating, but prevents odor by creating an environment with the wrong acidity level that bacteria requires to thrive.
So if you're one of those people who sweats A LOT, deodorants aren't going to stop that, and they're typically going to be much less effective (or effective for a much shorter period of time) because a deodorant can only take so much sweat before it's diluted/removed too much to be effective.
But some people can manage using a deodorant and not an antiperspirant because they don't sweat a lot or aren't very active, or they reapply throughout the day.
Personally, I keep both on hand. I don't sweat a lot unless I'm active. Deodorants used on most days….. when I won't be working out/doing physical labor, or plan on being out in the heat (or will do those things, but will have immediate access to a shower thereafter). Antiperspirant on the 1% of days when I will be out in the heat or working out without being able to take a shower right after. Why not just use antiperspirants all the time? Because the dangers of skin products with aluminum in them are debatable at best…so I figure the less I use them, the better.

If you add 2x of the 3 packs, you should be able to get it for $15.
