This seems like a decent deal for a non-gaming pc. Any better recommendations for someone who doesn't game, but does some video editing and CAD work from time to time?

define cad work? I don't touch Solidworks without at least a Quadro and i7. How many parts are your assemblies? If you're doing simple parts for 3D printing, I don't see why this machine wouldn't work for you.

Depending on what kind of footage and effects you're using, having a dedicated GPU can be pretty key for video editing + encoding.
Comments on Costco site says it only has 180 watt power supply that is proprietary, so limited upgrade options.
I don't think any consumer Dell comes w/ the power cord cables to add a GPU unless the system itself comes w/ a GPU anyway, so you'd be replacing the power supply anyway for that type of goal but that's also a hassle because some Dell cases only have room for their proprietary PSU. If I recall, last time I tried to do that, some of their mobos actually don't even support adding a PCIe GPU, so rec. doing thorough research if you're going to try that, I was unlucky w/ it but I think I was on an Optiplex at the time.

I'm on a 15" Dell laptop w/ an 11th gen i7 right now, and a lot of those thin laptops go for around this price but with slightly superior graphics ( "Intel Iris Xe" ). My suggestion would be figure out whether the specific workflows/apps you'll be using benefit from GPU performance or not, and if not you can consider a desktop like this but if you need GPU power I'd look at one of the laptop options, which Intel just happens to have beefed up the iGPUs on. Mine has an i7-11390H and cost me around $600 on sale ( from a Slick Deal ), and can handle 2x 2560x1440 screens at 165Hz at the same time without a stutter, as well as even play Dota 2 on decent settings. Good luck to you!

Slap a rx 6400 in this. bam, modern gaming. Its pcie 4, so It'll be full speed. rx6400 budget gaming is actually pretty legit. MWII runs well over 100fps on my i3 12100/rx 6400 build

Well, the beauty with costco is you got the 90 day return policy...
For local CAD or video editing, you're probably going to want something much more powerful.
For cloud based, like Tinkercad and such... no issue

I saw this the other day in my local Costco. Need to replace my mother's 7 year old Intel NUC computer I put together for her a long time back that has been rock solid reliable for her.
She needs a computer just for productivity software/web surfing. I was looking at the $800 Costco HP deal https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/768967 that has the AMD 5700G/32GB of memory/512GB SSD and the 6600XT but I guess why pay the extra $300 for a dedicated video card for a non gamer. It's not like a GPU would enhance the Windows 11 experience that much over integrated graphics right?

I agree that dedicated video card should be unnecessary for basic computing. HP also has some pretty terrible reliability across their product lines in the industry (IT consultant for 25+ years), so the Dell would be a better option for "set it and forget it", generally. You're spot on that a dedicated video card should not at all change the Windows 11 experience.

Correct. It is an extra ~$100-$200 that serves no purpose.
I'm currently using an HP which I hate - the NIC is garbage (which is a common issue) and my connection continually drops. I actually had to purchase this computer twice because the first one wouldn't even recognize the monitor and I had to return it. That should have been a warning to me. Their customer service is even worse.
I used to like Dell but their quality has really dropped off in recent years, but I would take this over my current HP that has better specs.
I wish there was an LG Gram quality computer in desktops.

Lenovo makes decent desktops, might be worth adding to the comparison

hey man what kind of CAD will you be doing? When I was doing Civil 3D we really needed to have GPU and a good amount of RAM for the machines to function smoothly. When we didnt have dedicated GPU and enough RAM CAD would crash a lot.

Oh, god, don't get me started on Lenovo. I had one of their laptops that was complete garbage from the start. After many frustrating hours with customer service and receiving back a scratched up and dirty laptop after being sent in for "service," it is still garbage.
