If you're thinking about a monitor like this, you should be able to pick up something used on FB marketplace for a lot less. Plus you'll be doing your local landfill a favor.

Wondering the same. I need another 24 for my WFH setup to go on the spring arms I just picked up.

Well I think it was most likely 720p back in 2004...but still agree. I definitely think the move from CRT then to LCDs then it's kind of been status quo with 1080p monitors since at least early 2010s (now 2022). Not sure why things haven't improved in over a decade. Although there have definitely been more 2k and 4k monitors (lowest priced 4k monitors are still in the $300ish range).

When widescreen LCD monitors first came out they were more often 1920x1200 (a 16:10 resolution).

Then HD TV took off and everything eventually switched to 1080p on the computer side. 16:10 was much better for work/productivity.

That is a question only you can answer. I cannot be as productive without dual monitors with at least 1440p, but you may be ok with a single 1080p screen.

My company issued 4k screens to everyone a couple of years ago. Just sayin. Even though I think that's overkill, it has definitely ruined 1080p for me, which is what I currently have at home. I do like the extra real estate. 1080p has been around forever... I think 2k should be the minimum these days for home use. If I can find some good cheap 2k vesa mount thin-bezel monitors this holiday season, I'll be in for 2.
