No. You can plug in USB device and store the recordings locally
blink has no privacy, they state that they will share all information with big brother. all amazon owned devices collect, share, sell your information. so this brings me to the second point: if you care about privacy NEVER install any camera/ voice recorders that are connected to the internet, else you are a fool.

Blink = GARBAGE. Watch reviews before you buy, you've been warned!! These things have a limit of 30 seconds per video and a cool down period inbetween 30 second videos... even with the paid sub!

Does the doorbell come with, or have a chime? I have the wyze that came with a separate chime. Jist keeps giving me issues.
If you have an Amazon device you can add the blink skill to Alexa and when someone presses the doorbell it will be announced on your echo etc

I just set up this exact model for my in-laws two weeks ago. I am using Wyze cameras for my security system. The thing that I learned that I did not like about the blink cameras is the turning on and off the motion detection (if you don't have a subscription). If you don't have a subscription turning on or off motion detection on the camera by camera basis is quite cumbersome. The reason you might want to do this is you might want the outdoor cameras to start detecting motion after sunset but you might not want your indoor camera to detect motion until 11 PM when you're in bed. Or you might want the front door camera to detect motion 24 seven but other cameras only to be detecting motion at night time or different hours. The problem is that to do this you have to arm all of the cameras first and then decide on the ones that you don't want to be detecting motion and disarm each camera individually and manually. And you can't set up a routine to automate this. Therefore I find it quite cumbersome as what I wanted is to have the front door camera detecting motion at all times, the outdoor cameras detecting motion after dark, and the indoor cameras detect motion after bedtime. I found this a big limitation of the system.

The Blink cameras are ok for the money, but not great compared to the (more expensive) competition.

I currently have the Blink doorbell, but plan to replace it with something better.

Positives:

* It's cheap
* It can store recordings locally if you have a sync module, doesn't require a paid subscription
* If hardwired, it can ring an existing chime
* Can announce doorbell activity on Amazon Echo devices

Negatives:

* Still runs on batteries even if hardwired, will require periodic battery replacement
* Camera has narrow field of view
* Slow to start recording when motion is detected, doesn't capture all the action
* Smart phone notifications are poorly designed. If you tap the notification, then it starts live view. By the time live view is displayed, the person at the door is often gone. When you exit live view, the app closes, so then you have to go find and open the app again if you want to view the recording to see who was there.
* Build quality is not great, it was designed to meet a low price point.

Is the ring pro 2 better than the blink doorbell? Absolutely. Not even close especially when comparing wired vs battery. wired is always better. Is the ring pro 2 worth the extra price? That's subjective. If you can afford it and you're comfortable with how much you spent then keep it.
Thank you. I will stick with my Ring Pro 2 purchase. Repped.

I bought this bundle but have been having issue with the system detecting the flood light when attaching it to one of the outdoor cameras, has anyone else had this issue ? no help from either blink customer support or Costco other than offering to replace the entire bundle.

Blink works fine. I plugged in 250gb flash drive in the Sync module. Local storage , video quality is fine so far .
How much video storage will that give you? 8 hrs? 1 day? A week?

It is good for entry level monitor as long as you don't care about delay and missing capture.
Delay is an understatement…

I bought a couple of blink cams and kept them maybe 4 days before sending it all back because of the delays. The app was fine, the video quality was pretty good, but someone would walk past a camera and by the time it detected them and started recording they would be 95% out of frame.

It depends on the sensitivity we set for motion detection.

do you know of any other way to connect to the system from outside the home, then?
