Unless you plan on pushing speeds past 900mbps, I'd save the money and get the Motorola MB7621.
That would be side grade to a modem with lesser hardware specs probably not worth it unless your having issues with what you have.
The only upgrade from would be like the S33 Arris or MM8611 Motorola and just because they have 2.5gb ports

Between the MB8600 and the Arris S33, which would be the better buy? They're both on sale, but I was able to get the Arris for $126 + tax.

The MB8600 is capable of 6 Gbps?
Where did you get arris for that price? Thanks

Best buy has it for $151, but you can go in store and trade in an old router/modem, and get a 15% off coupon.

Use that to bring it down to $129. I got mine out the door for $141.14

Caution: if you need telephone on the modem, MT7711 is the only device on this list that will work for you.

I got sucked into family tech support, and they didn't think to mention their VOIP service... now we get to make a bunch of returns.

Good to know. Will this mess up my VOIP through my Obi202?

I'm a little hesitant. I need to dump the $18 monthly fee for modem rental. I have gig speed but my cable company has a warning....
"Currently the Motorola MB8600 DOCSIS 3.1 is known to have problems connecting to the Astound Broadband network."
Any opinions if the MB8611 or the MG8702 would suffer the same issues? Are these too new and my cable company doesn't have enough complaints about these or has the architecture changed? I don't need more drain bramage and frustration as I age.

I know dick all about these things but I noticed there is also a MG7700 that is $127 and has an additional $35 off coupon that seems like a good deal.

Can someone please give me some advice? I have a very stable Netgear cm600 (no reboots, no signal loss) and am wondering if any of these are actual updates. I am on gigabit xfinity

The MB8600 is actually $118.99 on Amazon, $115.98 on Motorolla's site, but since Amazon delivers today I'm buying from Amazon. Thanks, OP!

I'm in a similar boat but with a CM500 and 200 mbps internet. Thing is rock solid and honestly I have no connection or lag issues outside of streaming live events from sketchy sites . . . but figure if going from a 16x4 to a 24x8 or a DOCSIS 3.1 setup makes sense, or just keep rocking this.

Cable ISPs are starting to phase out DOCSIS 3.0.
