The Platinum Elite has a USB port and a lifetime warranty, i think that's mostly the difference. Both are hardshell.

I travel a lot and honestly can't recommend the hard sided luggage. It will eventually crack and or get punctured. The softside is more durable from my experience.

That sucks. They had it displayed as the first item from their homepage deal banner and it stayed that way for almost a week. Surely it's not a price mistake. That's bait and switch.

Even more frusteratingly, I emailed them asking for it to be backordered until available and got a form response recommending I order it in another color... only one color was available.
