Not sure about this one, but my Champion 8000W says a 20lb tank will last about 5 hours on 50% load. Since this is a lower wattage I suspect it will be a little longer, but probably not much, especially if you are pushing it above 50% load (which is more likely the lower the total running wattage).

I got this generator to power a stand-alone building on my property during extended power outages. It runs a mini-split A/C with two zones and a full-size refrigerator along with other miscellaneous items like lights and chargers. During the last outage, I had it running off a full 20lb. propane tank for about 6 hours. Only one of the A/C zones was running and of course, the fridge. I don't know how much longer it could have gone, but the tank was only about half empty when I shut it off.

The thing I like about this unit is that it comes with the 240V output ready to plug straight into my panel. One thing I don't like (and keep in mind this could have changed...), is that the LP line has to be manually primed before it will start. I've forgotten that little detail on a couple of occasions and had to deal with the frustration of thinking something was wrong.

9 hours propane at 50% load per Generatorbible:

"Autonomy-wise, with around 10 hours on 4 gal of gasoline at a 50% load, the XP4850EH is on the low end when compared to other dual fuel generators of a similar power output. If you consider autonomy on a single full tank as one of the deciding factors, one of the generators in the same power range that offers the highest run time is the Westinghouse iGen4500DF, with around 15 hours"

Fuel consumption: "This generator is rather wasteful, compared to others with a similar output... gasoline consumption is roughly 0.4 GPH at a 50% load."

For reference the igen4500 uses 0,22 GPH @50% and 0.19 GPH @25% per published specs.

With all do respect, comparing this generator to the iGen4500df which is almost 3 times the price and an Inverter Generator is hardly an apples to apples comparison.

You are quoting a citation from the generatorbible site. Besides, igen4500 was recently posted here for $574. Informed buyers consider autonomy or running time per tank, the quality of the power to operate sensitive equipment, noise size weight and portability. Half the fuel consumption gets real important 24 hours in to an outage especially where one is snowed in or obtaining fuel is impossible. Total cost with operation will actually be less over time.

This utility generator deal had the advantage of simplicity and reliability if nothing else but the electric start isn't necessary and the current market price without it is $275.
