I routinely ride every trail or trainer ride with a HR strap, and have so for the last 7 or 8 years. Ive tried a number of them, CatEye, Lezyne, Garmin, Sosche and a number of off-brad ones such a CooSpo and Moofit (lol). To be quite honest, They've all worked very well. Aside from battery life, I havent noticed any substantial difference from one to the other. Ive never had any compatibility issues with any device. I've tested a few and compared them to a KardiMobile 6 Lead ECG device and they were pretty accurate. Its clear either the HRM or device is buffering / smoothing the HR a bit. But honestly, I'm not sure I understand how any other HRM could be better. What makes you guys so fond of the Polar HRM compared to the others? Even at $56 it seems to be substantially more expensive than other deals I've seen on name brand ones. Just curious.

I bought this for about $100 a year or so ago. There were complaints on the reviews (mostly pairing and technical things), but I've had no issue with it. I've been using it with the phone app. It's as accurate as I was looking for, much more so then the few wrist mounted models I've tried. This price is a steal.

I've had this for about 3 years. I like it and it works well.

This thing chews through batteries very quickly. Make sure you keep some 2032s on hand.

I have this. It's a great product. Great Bluetooth lock and stable. I'm pretty sure i paid significantly more. Yes it's better than the no name brands.

If you have a garmin watch, then the buffering/memory feature of the pro strap will work better with your watch. This Polar one uses a different implementation and may not play nice with your watch. I have a garmin fenix 6 but don't care for that feature, so I am getting this one.
