I had until now the free basic account, and yes, they send about 4 emails daily. You have the option to opt out of all emails from your DFC account dashboard (on the free account, you have no option to pick and choose which newsletter you want). I don't mind, as this is the information I want to receive and otherwise would not find out about these fares.

The benefit I see from a service such as DFC is that I get to received personalized offers based on my home airport (particularly as I don't live in the US, where most SD apply).
