Given that they clearanced the last one hard, and it hasnt come back this year, its highly unlikely.
The model in this deal is almost certainly a replacement product.
Would this be a good gift for a guy that likes to tinker around?
Absolutely, I feel naked if I forget my leatherman at home.

Yes and the warranty is the best, saw a video where the guy had it for 20 years all the parts were practically broken and they sent him back new refurbished ones made in the last 2 year.

This model is made specially for Costco. It's very similar to some of Leatherman's other tools; I imagine it's Costco-specific just so no one is forced to price match it.

This is the same as the leatherman Rev.

I've had this for a few years, not a bad knife but not super ergonomic.

I passed on that deal because the REV has regular pliers. After using a Wingman, I cannot live without spring-loaded pliers. This new Bolster has spring-loaded pliers.

The regular pliers require two hands to reposition, or you have to do some tricky maneuvering with a few of your fingers to open the pliers again with one hand. The spring-loaded pliers will open by themselves if you ease up on them. The cost is that the head has to have a section hollowed out for the spring, which makes them weaker. But I'm not in the habit of hammering things with the pliers on my Leatherman, so it has never been an issue.

The REV does have a package opener instead of a small flathead screwdriver on the Bolster. I think the package opener is fantastic and much more useful for most people. Its angle makes it a breeze to cut through tape on boxes, while its length means it does not penetrate as deeply as if you use the can opener or a knife. It also cuts much more easily through plastic anti-theft packaging than the can opener or a knife (more control). (The Costco description says small flathead screwdriver, but the pic looks more like a small serrated blade.)

Both are 3.8 inches closed. The top line Wave is 4 inches, which doesn't seem like much but the Wave felt a lot bulkier in my pocket, easier to clamp the pliers (more leverage). Of course it also costs 2.5x more.

I carry a Gerber Suspension NXT, better tool than the low end Leatherman like this one and the Leatherman Wingman. Same price range also.
Did Gerber fix the Philips screwdriver with the NXT? I had the original Suspension and ended up giving it away because the Philips screwdriver was absolutely useless for my needs (opening up PC cases). Most of the time I'd end up jamming the flathead in at an angle instead - it worked better than the included Philips driver. I couldn't understand how Gerber blew this since #2 Philips heads have been standard for nearly a century.

I'd get the ozark trail multi force over low end leatherman
Leatherman tools come with a 25 year warranty, which in practice has been pretty much a no questions asked warranty. People have sent in 20 year old tools with blades snapped off, and Leatherman sends them a new one.

I haven't been happy with the heat treat on some of the cheaper Leatherman tools (they bend/gouge too easily). But with that warranty, I'll just send it in for a replacement if it gets too damaged. They've also mailed me a replacement clip which broke, after I sent them photos of the broken piece. I didn't have to pay to ship them my tool.

That sale is really a steal!.. but according to the other commenters that price is not going to happen again.

LOL IDK how to feel about buying this tool, I feel like I am ripped off. Do you think they will price match if it's drops 90 days later?

I bought one of these the other day for this price. If multi tools are your thing and you carry one everyday the quality of this isn't top notch. But if you want a tool to have laying around for when you need it or just to keep in a bag I think the quality is great for that.

I was in Costco when this deal popped up and I found it for $29. I think this is a winner because you can actually carry it clipped in your jean pocket like a regular knife. It's fairly thin (in a good way) and not super heavy. My other two are so robust you really can't keep them in your pocket comfortably. This could actually be an EDC. Thumbs up here.

Why wait if you can return and buy a new one or have it price adjusted later on?

This was 39.99 in warehouse for a long time, picked one up in NJ this past weekend for 29.99. It had the asterisk in warehouse.

I second the Gerber NXT being a better choice. This leatherman is clunky and doesn't feel as quality compared to the gerber

I looked at this in the warehouse the other day and was not impressed. The tools seem kinda janky, and the list is supposed to wow you with the number of them packed into it. A friend gave me one a few years ago, the Wave i think, and I've found that useful a few times. If you're going to get a Leatherman, I'd get a slightly more expensive one with better tools. And don't try to carry it through the airport. The TSA will defintely either confiscate it or more likely make you put it in checked baggage.

I looked at this and the Ozark Trail Multiforce in Walmart, and I think the Multiforce is a way better tool, though 15 bucks more now...
