I just hit the 7 gallon mark with donating with the red cross. My body creates too many red blood cells causing chronic headaches. Donating blood is one of the beat things I've done for it. Helps me and ...hopefuly....helps others.
Other companies offer more incentives/rewards for donating but Red Cross is the only place in my area. I'm going to donate even without the gifts but I admit the t-shirts they give are nice.

Email the support address on the same page you signed up. I've had the same thing happened and they usually respond pretty quick. Also the email they send with gift link is not from the red cross so it might be in spam or overlooked.

They pay us $10 and later sell out blood for $1000 plus.

So they get like $1500 for a pint of blood and you get a $10 bozo gift card. Red Cross is not a reputable "charity" at all.

I don't believe this is true. I used to work in blood transfusion safety and was told they lost money on blood collection. They make the difference with the disaster relief portion of the organization. ARC is a nonprofit organization. In United States, blood centers stopped giving large sums for donating blood because people who volunteer to donate blood have safer blood on average (HIV, hepatitis). You can get money for donating plasma at plasma centers because plasma can be processed to kill viruses but which damage red blood cells.
Smaller blood collection centers have largely gone out of business or been bought out because it's tough to stay in business.

I've had the same bad experience with The Red Cross. I would donate blood even without any perks and swag, but don't promise things and not deliver. Between the beanie, tee shirts, long sleeve tees, and coffee cup promises, I have come up empty-handed.
