The prices I checked on a few items are much higher than other vendors. Basically paying for the "free" battery plus their shipping fee is hefty. No deal

I ordered a few things from the last DeWalt sale about a week or 2 ago and it was all old stock. Everything was 2020-43 dated. Not a big deal on bare tools but old dated batteries kind of sucked.

This is actually a decent deal... but the 996 hammer drill is 💩. The clutch on it will go out quickly, and the speed/torque selector is the worst sliding mechanism ever designed by human hands. Lol.

The hammer drill function is good, but if using it for anything larger than ½", have a fire extinguisher ready.

Last year I just got my replaced again (for the 2nd time.. both times, Dewalt just sent me a new one both times) and I had a simple paint stirrer I was mixing small (2 gallon) batches of cement with, and on batch number 4 and fireworks began lol. But my 1998 Ryobi 3/8 corded beater did fine lol.

So, take what you will from that. But, it's still a decent deal.

The 996 is a solid performer in my opinion. I beat the snot out of mine this year, with over 500 5/16" 2" deep hammer drills in a poured wall, followed by around 200 more 1/4" 2.5" deep into the same poor wall. Yep, should have really bought an SDS drill (now have one; probably never use it again), but this sucker performed STRONG. For this price with the battery it's a nobrainer buy.

I'm in the market for a jigsaw. The DSC334B is $200 at Murdoch (with the battery) or $153 on Amazon (with a decent-rated supplier). It's the equivalent of paying $50 more for the battery, not bad if you need a battery..
That said, the drill DCD996B is $130 at Murdoch's (with the battery) and ~$200 at Amazon, It's the equivalent of them paying you $70 to take the battery, a much better deal.

996 is the grandfather of hammer combi drills

all the 998 and 999 is utilizing better electronics to use flexvolt/power detect

just don't leave it out in the rain and it's enough UWO to break your dainty wrists

i'm sure it's not a one size fits all tool but that's why dewalt has at least 3 different tiers of 1/2" drills that are mustard instead of using different brands all around
