Seems like a decent price given competitors and price history.

Thanks! Hub has mostly DeWalt and Porter Cable. He said that he only wants a dual bevel sliding miter saw, so now I have to spend more than $199 on the DeWalt one. Sigh.

Just FYI, I think this is the same as one of the Home Depot Rigid models, so you may find it cheaper there, but then it's orange and not blue. Buying a Rigid may make any future warranty issues easier to handle but I don't know.

Thanks! After thinking it over I think I am going to wait. I missed the great $399 DeWalt/Free stand deal at Home Depot and either hope it comes back (DeWalt promos end in February) OR just give him a "Coupon" and let him pick what he wants. This is too stressful!

One thing to consider is the sliding mechanism is different between the two. This you can almost get up right against the wall which is nice if space is an issue and it's going to be stationary. If he is going to be pulling it and using the stand than it doesn't matter either way.

I read reviews on Amazon about this saw not being accurate, not good for finishing work like furniture and cabinets?

Thanks! Space is an issue but he also wants a stand. LOL. Now I know how he feels when he shops for me at Sephora. Wink

In my area the HD Dewalt deal did come back in stock. You really can't beat the Dewalt deal.

This is actually a pretty good saw. The weaknesses are dust collection and blade deflection. There is not much you can do about dust correction, but I suspect a lot of the "inaccurate" reviews from Amazon are due to blade deflection. All sliders have blade deflection. But this design does not use solid rails and thus is more susceptible to blade deflection. To get perfect cuts, you need to practice perfect techniques. See this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFKXlKuHXYA
Here is a comprehensive review of the saw that I find useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0VB5Tz_AZE
