We actually use these working at Lowes overnight stocking. Just tighten the screws and keep an eye on them. Lost a couple off the first one I got. Works very well, using it 10 hours a night!
$145 for truck delivery 🚚😂
This looks like a rebrand of the Milwaukee Fastback that Home Depot used to sell.

Assuming it's the same knife, it's a decent medium duty work knife. It's not as durable as a classic steel body retractable utility knife, but blade changes are easier and it's smaller.

If you live near a Menard's, they have a three pack of utility knives for the same price after rebate. No extra blades though.

That little piece to change the blade has a tiny screw which can go loose easily.

I was able to add for pickup this morning but the store just called and said they don't have it in stocks anymore. Blah...and now, it looks like they removed all pickup. Another reason why I preferred to shop mainly at Home Depot.

Is this any good? Reviews are very bad for this knife on Lowe's website.

For Lowes, there's a difference between "delivery" and "shipping".

- Delivery is via truck from your local or nearby store, and it's always that high regardless of the value of the order. In our area at least, Lowes contracts with a 3rd party for all deliveries, though they use Lowes branded trucks.
- Shipping is from a distribution center via small package carrier for something like this, so if that option was available the charge would be much more reasonable.

An excuse to use the screwdriver in your multitool?

Got the last remaining in my store. Packaging damaged, looks like returned repackaged item. But for the price, I think it doesn't matter.

What exactly would you consider heavy duty usage?

I have had and use the same fastback for 3 years now almost daily, would likely be 5 but i lost my previous one. Unless you're constantly dropping this from large heights i don't see how it would break.

but this one also has a slightly different design from the MWFB and is a fraction of the price, so i don't know about the durability of it.

Don't they still sell the fastback or was there a previous version of it they stopped selling?

What makes the kobalt one easier to open if they're basically clones?

Got 2, I like clones lol
Naw, Home Depot still sells the Fastbacks. I like the Fastback 9 in 1.

I'd consider heavy duty usage to be the abuse that some of the steel retractable box cutters get put through in industrial and warehouse use. I mean things like getting the tip gunked up with adhesive from cutting through packing tape all day, using the back of the handle to break apart things that have been scored with the blade, etc.

The Fastback is a good tool for many jobs and is the main box cutter I use, but for heavy use like that a traditional steel box cutter would be the more appropriate tool.

Ya home depot still sells the fastback. I think he's comparing it to the classic generic/kobalt retractable steel utility knife that lowes will alternate these out with.
Yep, I meant that the Fastback (and presumably the clones) make changing blades faster than in traditional steel box cutters like this. [homedepot.com]

Once you get used to the knife, you can also open it one handed fairly easily. You just press the lock button, lightly flip your wrist, and let go of the lock button to secure it in the open position.
