TLDR summary of projectorcentral review:

"As the 3,200 ANSI lumen rating suggests, the natural home for the PX701-4K is in a room with ambient light. Most people will consider the image more than acceptable for a family room straight of the box, while serious gamers will also be attracted by the faster-than-typical lag time for 4K models. And although it doesn't offer the color accuracy, contrast, or black level a serious enthusiast would ideally want, it can also do a credible job on image quality with lights off."

Notable: 12,000:1 contrast ratio, tends towards blue, but can be improved if willing to tinker;

"After calibration, the final measured brightness for peak white with HDR input was significantly higher than for SDR, at 246.7 nits (72.01 ft-L). The measured color volume was 53.3% Rec.709 (35.8% of the DCI-P3 wide color gamut), an improvement on the pre-calibration measurement. "

I think (1920 x 1080) is 1080p only, not 4k

I have this model's cousin, the ViewSonic PX748-4k. I really like this brand of projector for some reason, and moved from a ViewSonic 1080P to a 4K. During my search I asked for some opinions on reddit, here was a great response I received regarding an upgrade from a 1080P to a 4k, this review may help:

Viewsonic sells this on ebay refurbished for $675 with 2 year all state warranty. Keeps going in and out of stock. I purchased last month when there was a ebay coupon was running for 20% off.
So far so good. Picture is very sharp but the color accuracy is not as good as my earlier Optoma HD141X. But still good enough.
Projector needs good bit of calibration. I am using the economy mode to reduce the noise but still very bright. I have a dedicated media room so no outside light issues.

Only glitch so far, is that the projector will not switch on if left off for a week or so. Need to unplug the power cord and put it back. Works fine after that. Anyone knows why this pay happen? I tried different power settings but no luck.
Im unsure why it may happen but it sounds like its a candidate for something like a kasa style smart switch or an IR remote plug.

Ive got no idea about that brand but it looks like a clone of the etekcity ones that ive had for years.

Picture wise the BenQ is probably better, but its more of a movie centric projector while this is more of an everyday/gaming type. That said the BenQ is not as bright so you need a darker room for it otherwise it will look more washed out than this.

For input lag and gaming features this one is better. Input lag is half the BenQ at 4k60 and it also has 1080p240 and (presumably) 1080p120 while the BenQ doesn't.

Heres the specs for the BenQ
https://www.projectorcentral.com/BenQ-HT3550.htm

Unless you are a die hard gamer id wait to see what gets unveiled at CES in January. Epson already has a couple HDMI 2.1 projectors that can do 4K120 but they're 4000+ bucks. Its possible at CES in January or E3 we get some cheaper HDMI 2.1 projectors. The epsons use a .73" TI dlp chip while i think all these budget 4k projector use a .48" TI dlp chip.

The chip is what moves/vibrates/oscillates to produce the image. Afaik 4k120 hadn't been possible on a dlp projector before those epson models came out this year. CES or E3 should have quite a few more models with the .73" TI dlp chip that are capable of 4k120 and those will have me considering upgrading from the uhd50x

I wish there was a pole in the market to hang the projector from ....would be useful for people who don't want to permanently fix the projector up the wall.
Would a tripod not work for this? I have a cheap LED projector that has the same size opening on the bottom as cameras. Works fine for me.

Would it be better to just focus on a projector for movies anime tv, and an oled for gaming?
Or does a 120 inch screen help for the immersion?

So this is native 4k at this price and not 1080P with pixel shift? 🤔

No.

"The PX701-4K is built around a RGBWRGBW 8-segment color wheel and a 0.47-inch DLP chip, which generates 3840x2160 pixels using TI's XPR fast-switch pixel shifting."

I have the PX748 and it's really great (I know this is a different model), but it was a bit misleading when I was told it handles 3D. Even opened a ticket with ViewSonic since it wasn't working and had to send it in to get an upgraded firmware. 3D still doesn't work and their support pretty much gave up trying to help, although I will say they did give it a good try.

DLP XPR tech displays 4k worth of distinct pixels. I guess "native" descriptor is kind of deceptive but only for nit pickers.

Is this a short throw projector? I have the BenQ HT2150ST. Gives me a screen six of about 120" at about 9 ft. Would this be a good replacement?

I think this would indicate native 1080p with 4k supported. Or they just through in "4k" to mess with people.
That's exactly what they do. That projector accepts a 4K signal, outputs 1080P. The projector in this thread accepts a 4K signal, and outputs a 4k signal, though, confusingly, not the same 4K signal as input.

Instead it uses pixel shifting to rapidly display 4 offset 1080p signals in sequence, which tricks your eye into seeing a 4K output. All 4K protectors in this price range use this approach. There are no exceptions under $3000 or so.
