I'm happy with mine. I was really worried my girlfriend would hate making tea with it because it pours slow, but she likes it. Obviously it's good for pour-over but I need it to do both, and it has.
I didn't expect to use the timer on it but I like it.
$130 is too much for a kettle. I'd buy it again.
I own this and it works good but it isn't a big game changer or anything though. I originally paid $127 for the black version from Costco in July 2021. I have a cheaper kettle I like better now though. I wouldn't pay more than $40 if I were to buy it again.
Great looking Kettle, just keep in mind it only holds about 3 cups of water max. Also, the pouring time requires a bit of patience

I would stay away from the fellow stag kettles. I will admit they look great, but the product quality is disappointing at best. Especially disappointing, considering the price. I got mine as a Christmas gift last year and the base only lasted a month with light use. I had to hit the power button 5+ times before I would hit the button just right and the kettle would finally turn on. Very loose tolerances and I hate that I can't have pre set temperatures. The Bonavita is a much better/functional kettle.
I had a similar issue where the base was wonky and the temperature display would go blank. They sent me a new one, no questions asked, and it's been going strong for at least two years.

Not a fan. The pour is so slow and the body scratches too easily
Gooseneck kettles are designed *specifically* for pouring slowly, and are used for pour over coffee where you need greater control over flow and agitation in coffee bed. They make other style kettles as well if you're looking for something more traditional.

I have zero scratches on mine. It's used 2-3x a day by my family. I make pour overs, my wife uses it for tea and pitchers of barley tea (3-4 kettles, now that's a bit slow), and my kids use it for tea/coco/ramen.

Not trying to make a snide comment here. That is not my intent. How does this differ functionally from the $9.99 hot water kettle I have from WalMart that doesn't have the low, looping spout?
We'll it's gooseneck, which is for a specific purpose. But the temperature control is much more precise than the $10-$30 kettles — even if they have a temp gauge/control, they aren't PID controlled.

As with all things that are on the higher end of the price spectrum there are reasons for it, but for many those reasons won't be worth the extra money. That doesn't mean it's stupid or bad. Also your one off issue does not condemn an entire product. Anecdotal evidence is close to meaningless. All products fail, and some of them early in the lifespan. Toyota makes the most reliable cars in the world and it has been that way for decades. Yet I can find plenty of people with horror stories concerning their Toyota. It's fine to mention the issues you have, but making statements about the product like everyone will have the same experience is ignorant. State your experience but realize you are only one person among thousands.

As for the product, you are paying for style, optimized flow for pour over coffee (this is really important to know and may not be for you if you don't plan to use it for that), features, ease of use, customer service, and made/designed in the USA. If those are not something you are interesting in, great. This is not for you. Enjoy whatever product you chose. Yet your choice is not superior in any way. Stop using Slickdeals like it is a site for you to tell other people how much better you are at choosing products, or worse needing to put down other products so you can feel better about your choice. People like different things. For some they will spend the extra money for things that don't interest you. Accept it and move on.

I will now step down from my soap box.

I own this kettle and the base started leaking after about 6 months. Got a warranty replacement and the new base started rusting inside after only 3 months.
Also, the button is terrible. I would often have to press it multiple times for it to work. Dialing back and forth between 200F for coffee and 104F for baby formula is tedious as the dial is not designed for quick temperature changes. You would have to rotate the dial several times over, and it is rigid and clicky which makes you think that too will break at some point.
Other than the beautiful design, this kettle is absolutely not worth the price, even at $130.

I've owned mine since 2018 and the kettle just broke on Friday. Frown
I saw this over the weekend and picked up the matte gray version and already using it in the office today. Based on the new kettle, I was able to figure out which part is broken on the old one, kettle and not base. I might order a replacement kettle part from Fellow though.

As other people have said, the reason for a goose neck is for pour over coffee which requires patience. That's fine with me as that takes some time away from sitting at my desk.

I had been wanting one of these for a while as I'm trying to step my coffee game up and away from Keurig pods.

I ended up getting this one from Taotronics [taotronics.com] for less than $40 using code 30OFFA or SU35. I threw in a lamp for my partner's side of the bed to hit the $39 free shipping minimum also. If you aren't wanting anything else you could try using code CMSA25 and that makes the subtotal $40 + tax and free shipping.

From what I can tell, the Taotronics one is the same 0.9 Liters and gets as hot as the Stagg EKG, just no elegant wooden handle. I've enjoyed my Taotronics one, heats up fast and will be nice for the pour over I found out I'm getting for Christmas.

I know TaoTronics got banned from Amazon for their reviews practices, but you can still find it on there under a different names like "miroco electric gooseneck kettle [amazon.com]" or this one [amazon.com]

I'm sure the Stagg is amazing, just wanted to share for anyone looking for a budget option

My gut feeling says there's a Chinese factory somewhere that's just making these for a bunch of companies - the coils on the base looks the same, placement of dials and LCD screen is same, similar size, etc. I bought my Taotronics MI-EK005 direct from Taotronics last holiday - I see it's currently $38 on their site. My Taotronics looks super identical to this Stagg, but the exterior material used definitely appears nicer on the Stagg. The Taotronic's kettle is super nice, but the base leaves a ton to be desired - very plasticky and temp dial doesn't spin smoothly. Most likely you're paying a $100 premium for the Fellow because of the wood accent, nicer paint finish, etc.

Have had mine for years with no issues, absolutely love it. If it broke I'd order a new one immediately. Obviously there are much cheaper ways to heat water but that's not the point

Applies to 90% of the Sh_t in anyone's house... So? Luxury vs utility if it's not for you, then pass and don't force yourself to comment. This is a deal site and this is a good deal for this item.

Rub two sticks together and put your cast iron pot on top of the fire. There, hot water. LMAO
This is why the coasts hate the fly-over, just as closed-minded and opinionated as they are.

Fantastic kettle. The pour rate is great for coffee and precise temperature setting is very accurate. I wouldn't bother with the network connected one personally.

I've had mine for … three or four years with zero problems.

I'd say if you're not a tea or coffee enthusiast (I.e. you buy fresh roasted whole beans, time your pours kind of thing) then yeah this is overkill.
