why do you say the dji smart controller sells for $800+ on it's own, is there something different about this one than the one which dji sells for $1199? is this because the smart controller is refurbished, too? i thought dji sold refurb sc for $600.

Yes, refurb SCs sell for around $600. However this combo is only $100 more than the one with the RC-N1 controller and is approximately half of the retail price. DJI's refurb combos typically sell at 20-25% off retail.

Thanks, this is a pretty decent deal vs regular prices for the Air 2S and controllers.

Note though that the smart controller has reached end-of-life (as far as manufacturing) and has been replaced by the cheaper DJI RC, which is superior in release date, range, occusync version, battery life, and weight; but does have a dimmer screen at 700 nits. I've read conflicting reviews over how big a deal this may be. And the RC is available new for just over $300 regular price.

As someone who has a refurb Air 2S w/the standard RC-N1 already, I'm leaning toward the DJI RC for my use.

Great feedback. After looking into the smart controller more carefully I agree - it seems to have shorter battery life and more glitchy connectivity than the RC-N1. I canceled my order and went for a great deal on a refurb Air 2S Fly More combo from Newegg ($825 + $40 gift card). Will probably use the gift card to buy a RC controller when they become available on eBay.

You seem knowledgeable. Is it true that the RC-N1 has a significantly better range than the DJI RC that comes with the Mini 3 Pro?

Thanks. I meant the controller itself though. Smilie

it is not true the range is significantly better. there have been reports of people not getting good range with their dji rc especially when using the m3p but it's all so subjective you may need to find out for yourself how your equipment is performing. ultimately the long range might be more but several miles vs only a few miles isn't a practical measurement. after many years of flying, i've only taken my drone 2 or 3 miles out max. either remote would work for me. i haven't heard the dji rc suffers from abnormal reception in the short range or subject to interference in the shorter ranges.

I'd like to get this but it's out of stock. Anyone have an idea of how often DJI refurbs come in and out of stock?
