the battery is not replaceable in this unit so after a year or two it won't last very long and then after another year it will be worthless.

You have to disassemble these to replace battery, the ones that are "user replaceable " have a door with single screw retention.

Contrary to what people thing the battery in these ARE user replaceable. However they aren't as intuitive as the older ones since you need a long Philips head screwdriver to reach the screws. Can get it at Harbor Freight. The older one was way easier to access

Mine lasted 4 years before it died. And when it dies you can't use it as a normal surge protector. Makes a siren noise that is unmutable and keeps going till it's unplugged.

The battery is replaceable. I've posted about this before.

However I still wouldn't recommend it. I had one die a month in and got a warranty replacement.
Both batteries died just before 2 years. The worst part is the unit shuts off when the battery test fails. It just turns off the load! Completely unacceptable.

Just got this one. The battery is replaceable, but it is not designed as such. It's a simple matter of removing four Philips screws and dealing with sticker on the side of the unit that overlaps the top and bottom halves.

The battery inside is a Leoch CPS3.6-12 (12V2.9AH) unit, that's approx 4" long and when turned so that the terminals are on your right, the positive (red) one is nearest you.

There are many replacement batteries with the same form factor and voltage. The one closest in capacity (AH) that meets or exceeds 2.9 I can find on Amazon is this one:
