Preface this by saying this is a really good deal on all these boxes so it deserves a thumbs up and likely a FP spot.
However, this stuff is also, in my experience, not particularly good. Aside from the artificial-tasting nature of HF's products, and the fact that they're essentially salt bombs, the cheese and meat feel and taste processed. Way too soft, spongy and just offputting.
If I received this as a gift, it better be from an acquaintance at work and not a friend or family member. I'd rather get a little slice of imported cheese and meat from the local grocery store that's fresh than this, even if it meant the amount I received was 20% of the amount received in these boxes for the price.
This might be really useful for like a distant cousin's family or something you forgot about maybe.
I agree that this isn't the highest quality stuff.
That said, no one is unhappy to get something like that first "Thank You" box (which doesn't have holiday packaging) as an unexpected "Happy New Year gift" in January. The unexpectedness counts for a lot for something like that.
So I'll be sending a few of those to friends and family. And they will be happy to get them.
A gift is a gift. Have we lost sight of "It's the thought that counts"? People are so spoiled these days. If you get something from someone, take the gift, say thank you, and shut up. We didn't all grow up getting everything we always asked for. If it damages a relationship giving someone a gift, then that relationship must have already been destined to fail.
My girl loves these still and asks for one every year. They are overpriced in the malls before Christmas unfortunately, so this is a big discount.

but you don't really know if they will be happy to get them. you're assuming that. just because you think it's a nice gesture doesn't mean others automatically will. you can actually damage a relationship by giving stuff like this as a gift imo.
I have NEVER damaged my relations with friends and family by giving unexpected gifts at times of the year when gifts are not typically being exchanged. But I guess there are families and friends who see things differently.

It's not. I also got $200+ worth of stuff. A few gifts and stocked up on 6 pack of cheese, since it freezes well. Not a big fan of summer sausage

Are you assuming only very old people like them?
