Thanks, OP! My Essential plan ended tonight, and I couldn't get the Christmas deal for $30 since it was for new or expired members. I grabbed Extra for the price of Essential. I wish that I could buy multiple years, but I'm glad that I got this deal.

I have the PlayStation EXTRA (the mid tier) on sale for me for 59.99. (In addition to the Playstation Premium - highest tier - for 79.99.)

However, CD Keys has PS+ for less than $50:

yes, upgrading to premium is 30% off and still works after you get the discount for extra...so you can upgrade for $14 after buying extra first, instead of just buying the premium tier initially for $20 more.

I signed up for ps extra earlier today. Then a bit later chose to go ahead and upgrade to the premium. Well, it offered me another discount. Instead of another $20 it was discounted to $14. So y'all may be able to save another $6 signing up for extra then going back in to upgrade to premium.

I accidentally bought "Essentials" for the $60 😑 None of those upgrades work afterwards at least not as good deals. I'm canceling and trying it again tomorrow

Premium is the biggest joke to Sony fans ever. I feel sorry for the fools who bit on Premium, even sorrier if they didn't do the $14 upgrade from Extra first. This pricing b.s. is one instance of many. Streaming PS3 games is a joke in itself, but then stack that with a massive chunk of the U.S. having terrible internet connections and it becomes hilarious. Don't get me started on the excuse they call a PS1/PS2 library.

Don't get me wrong, Extra is at least arguable on value. But Premium is just sad.

But at the end of the day, I must thank Jim Ryan. If it wasn't for him, I never would have dreamed of turning PC master race.

Smh. I know how to become a new member and that's to let my sub lapse, join game pass on my Xbox series S from the Target deal, and see if I ever want to come back to the second-rate PS service. Have not been happy with PS Plus for a while, the game selection has not been great (have tried but not stuck with any of them). They are also all games that are like $5 at GameStop now. Anything I've wanted (Fallen Order, GOW) came out years after I bought the game anyway. It's like the old days of waiting 4 years for a movie to make it to VHS.

I'm not sure if this offer is still available, but for those that had years stacked, they offered an upgrade fee of $50 per tier regardless of how many years were still outstanding. So people were buying 5 years of the base tier and upgrading to extra for only $50 (instead of the normal $40 x 5 years).
