Customers are responsible forall return shipping costs. When returning merchandise, Al's suggests you obtain tracking information and sufficient insurance if your gear gets lost in transit. Original shipping costs are non-refundable. When returning orders that have qualified for free shipping, the original shipping cost incurred will be deducted from the refund. This is necessary so people don't take advantage of our free shipping program.
The Saucony Peregrine 12 for $58 (SD post) is a better deal.
Another option, not posted, is the Asics Fuji Lite 2 for $60 from Asics.com when you use code JUST4YOU and sign in to your free Asics One account.
Both of those shoes are highly regarded and well received by reviewers at RoadTrailRun, SoleReview, RunningShoeGurus, and RunRepeat.
I tried the Torrent on at home and was thoroughly unimpressed. Felt like a flimsy piece of junk with construction on par with a department store grade $30 Adidas or New Balance shoe. The sole is flattish like a the equally boring Brooks Divide.

That's the worst shipping/refund policy I've seen for apparel/shoes that can often have fitment challenges.
If you pay via PayPal don't they cover shipping cost for returns?
Even if, they're also deducting "free shipping" from your order. Sounds like they can make up any arbitrary number and deduct it from what you paid them.
If you like foam support that Hoka uses, but don't like how tall most Hokas are, this is a great shoe. It lacks a rock plate, but is light and very fun to run in. This is my favorite trail runner. So far, my current pair has lasted a year and a half. I had to glue down one small portion of the tread that started to separate from the sole after about a year. Tread is still great. (I don't use my own inserts, so cannot comment on the longevity of the Hoka inserts that came with the Torrent 2).
I ordered some football gear from Al's last fall...i was a little hesitant because I never heard of em but no problems at all and it got to me in 2-3 days.
Return policy really wasn't a concern since I knew what I wanted and some return half of my online purchases like it sounds like many do
