Reward points change:
The second change is that on February 14, 2023, earning points on eligible Best Buy purchases will become an exclusive benefit of the My Best Buy® Credit Card.
I know that sucks! But tbh I feel like I barely get rewards as a non credit card holder but I personally feel as if free shipping offsets it.
Yes.

This is actually a winner for those who DONT regularly shop there. They even get to save more $ on the spot as a perk versus needing to spend $250 to get a measly perk of $5 reward certificate.

Immediate dividend is what I'm talking about.

You may not care. But when describing it to someone, that person will care. We don't care how long it takes you because it will vary depending on what route you take and where you are coming from. If you just state the distance, then everyone can actually use that information for their own case. Your time information is useless unless they are taking the exact same route as you at the exact same time.

No one knows where you are so it doesn't matter. But for future reference, always describe distance in terms of miles and not time. People always ask how far something is and they state a time. That information is useless. Just state a distance.
Distance by itself is equally useless if not more so.

Store A is 10 miles away.

Store B is 20 miles away.

Which store are you going to go to, smart guy? Store A, obviously, right? Well, the fastest route to get there from here is through residential roads where the speed limit is either 20mph or 25mph on all of them, and they are all covered in dozens of speed bumps. I think they are also doing construction on one of the roads, blocking one of the lanes, so you may have to wait as they only let one lane of opposing traffic pass at a time. It'll take you 40 minutes to arrive.

To get to store B, you'd simply get on the highway entrance that's around the corner from here, and then it's a straight shot on a 80mph interstate, take exit 27 and turn right into their parking lot. You would arrive in 15 minutes.

Now, do you still just want me to give you the distance only, or do you want the context too, like a normal human being?

Oh my god. You said it yourself: "No one knows where you are so it doesn't matter." The internet commenters never fail to amaze me. LMAO

So basically accessories and media under $35 can be shipped now without the xtra $6 charge.

Exciting times
Yes. It's small but great competition. I already cancelled my Prime not long ago but also felt the need to add more things to my cart. Now I know I can turn to Best Buy for things under $35 and not pay the $6 shipping.

From the corporation whose history is to continually change, gut or eliminate major components of its Rewards programs every year or two, we'll see how long this lasts. Year-round, truly free shipping on sub-$20 items without some strings attached is a losing proposition, unless they've negotiated something with the geniuses at the postal service that will offload the financial disaster to them (entirely possible). I guess the longevity of this perk will depend on how desperate and successful BB is at taking market share from Amazon.

All 3 stores were within a few miles of my house. When I'm driving my car, I don't care if one store is X miles away, another store is Y miles away and the third store is Z miles away. I can get to them all in roughly the same amount of time with stop lights and traffic. Time is the most important factor. And in this case the times are roughly equal. So I don't know - or care - about the actual distance.
Aww I guess that was the first and last time I tried their locker pick-up features which I thought was pretty neat.

Wow, another one out of the woodwork telling me how to live my life. I guess you missed the part where I said "All 3 stores were within a few miles of my house." Gotta love the internet rando commenters! LMAO

If the gatekeeping of extended returns behind TotalTech hadn't already made me switch most of my purchases elsewhere, the removal of points would have. There's no point in spending $5-10k a year at someplace with a 15-day return window. Costco (and occasionally Lowes) gets my appliance and major electronics business now.

IKR? People seem to forget elite members got free shipping plus double points on purchases. Now we get zero points and free shipping under $35. SUCH OFFER.
Yeah I no longer do business with them anymore unless I have to get it same day at the store. I used to spend 5-10k a year the GM that runs the store told me when I bitched about it elite + were not member they cared about for the bottom line.

As long as they keep the point redemption per certificate the same, I'm good. I have a lot of unused points, and I would hate to have to rush to use them up before a change ... like Starbucks rewards where they update the program and reduce point value every few years.

Surprised this is rated as a hot deal. To me it's the final gutting of My Rewards that started last year with the end of the tiered system. Free shipping to me is worthless because BB is consistently more expensive than other online competitors, love to weasel out of price matches, and have a puny 14 day return window that starts from purchase, not when received. The way they price most things it's more like "shipping included," that true free shipping.

I'm not saying I won't buy from BB anymore, just that the price would have to be amazing or the model/features was exclusive to it.

I use Netflix. Lots of international TV series are better than those from Hollywoodland.
