I've thought about QuickJack many times before, and I always pass. For one thing, there are single-post and two-post lifts which cost only a little more, and are INFINITY TIMES better, if you have a garage that can support something like that.

Second, Is that much less work than lifting one side of the car, putting it on jack stands, then lifting the other side and putting it on jack stands? Because when I look at the QuickJack, there's a lot of messing around with dragging it out, positioning it, attaching hoses, plugging it in... I can see corner cases, like if I take my car to a race track, maybe. But for working in a home garage, floor jack and stands seem just as good.

According to the manual, you are not supposed to work underneath a vehicle unless you also have jack stands under there as well. But the space to fit quickjacks and jack stands is pretty limited, which would make it nearly impossible to get much of anything done under there anyways. It seems that quickjacks are best for working on wheels, brakes, suspension, etc. that doesn't involve having to get underneath the vehicle.

WARNING You must ALWAYS use auxiliary safety stands under the Vehicle while elevated on both QuickJack Frames.

This is something that looks like it has a ton of value and would certainly make working on cars easier but really can't justify $1600 for something I'd use maybe once a month or so. Also, hauling it around the garage seems to be a bigger PITA than a jack/stand. And, I do most of the work on my cars, brake jobs, fluid changes, etc. Just can't justify the purchase. This really seems geared toward the project car crowd, or even prosumer people that might run a lowkey shop out of their garage.

I thought about buying one when they were closer to 1000, but what put me off was how they changed the mechanism as to how it locks when you lower the lift. You're relying on this semi circle looking thing to hook into the frame to actually physically lock the stand. I've seen one user on youtube where one side locked but the other didn't so the car nearly fell off the quickjack. The locking mechanism was more manual before looked less prone to failure. With all that said my neighbor has one and he said he's never felt more safe in his life working on his C5 corvette.

I've considered these before but have passed up the Costco sales. Well, the prices have gone up almost 40% in the last 2 years. I would have loved to use these on a recent sport exhaust install, but cannot justify the price with all of the added convenience. If you're seriously considering getting into the QJ system, I recommend doing it now because the price will probably go up further.

Ya, Costco had this on sale in store during covid for 900-1000. This is to capitalize on people maintaining their cars due to car prices being to the moon. Used car prices collapsed, now new prices are collapsing and so will these type items.

I think that was for the previous gen 5000 model without the bundle, but yeah, price has skyrocketed

I posted up (and bought) a deal on the 5000 lb version last year. I like these for wheels up work on low cars, and as others have mentioned tire rotations are a piece of cake with them. I didn't get the kit with the pinch weld blocks, I think they're too expensive for what they are. Many cheaper options.

Has anyone DIY'd something like the truck/SUV adapters? $265 seems steep for what they are. Might just do a chunk of 4x6 or something.

I just picked up a 4 post lift after waffling and watching those prices spike. Interested to see how much use these get once I have that installed. It's more for storage than maintenance.

I have been thinking about getting 4 Ramps to do work under the car- they are significantly cheaper. Are Jacks better than Ramps for some reason. I thought High Strength Portable Ramps would be quicker to deploy and easier to work with (except when working on tires)

Access to the middle of the car is limited with QJs, so exhaust work could be troublesome having to go under from the front or back rather than sides. I think a nice floor jack(s) and good quality jack stands would be preferable for that kind of work.

I'm glad I got the 5000 model years back on a sale for $1000 shipped. It was a lot of money but well worth it even though I'm just a weekend warrior. It makes every job much much easier. I get about 24" of clearance (car bottom to ground) from the QJ.
