Currently member of both Costco and Sam's. I prefer Sam's plus over Costco executive. Scan & Go, Free curbside pickup, Same price In club and online, Free shipping, more affordable and premium quality product availability and more. Costco might be paying well to their employees but hey, you also need to think about customers and be flexible.
Welp we found the the one that ruins everything.
I'll agree with everything you said except the premium quality part. Sams Club is anything but premium. Unless you consider the junk food section premium then you are right. They have every type of chips/twinkies/ding dongs imaginable.

First time I'm seeing a post on Sam's Club Instant Savings on SD. Usually I see Costco savings posts. While those posts are popular, a lot of comments are a crib about how nothing good is on sale that month.

Disclaimer: I happen to have both memberships.

Does your location scan receipts and 3 items at exit to prevent theft? My location does this and it's super annoying. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes just to get out of the store after checking out because the lines are so long. Just wondering if every Sam's does this.

Where I am at, both Costco and Sam's scans receipts and does a random check of items in the cart. Frankly I detest entering a Costco because right from the parking lot to the club, including entry, exit and returns, the crowd / line is painstakingly long. With Sam's, I place curbside pick up order and it saves so much time. Sometimes I have to push myself to not place the order and do scan and go inside the club just so I can see new items / pick my own perfect fruits or spinach haha. Even then, I know I'm saving time and sanity. Costco is at half the distance of Sam's from my home and I'm still done in-club shopping in half the time at Sam's and I don't come out frazzled.

Agree with what you said. We may not be the majority with our opinions, but facts are facts.
Quality and brand preferences can be subjective so I can't comment on that for everyone. But all I can say is that I've never had any quality issues with Sam's as such and any time I did, they fixed it. I've had more surly staff at Costco than at Sam's. That always makes me wonder why people eulogize Costco service, employee quality as well as standing by their products and offering reliable returns policy. I also do prefer smaller package size at Sam's. 2 vs 3 loaves of bread, 4 vs 8 lbs of fruit and so on. Even with a family of 5, I find it hard to finish giant pillows of greens or the mega cheese bags without it rotting or we getting bored. I've found a good balance for our family's shopping needs. Once in 2 weeks curbside pick up at Sam's and a quick dash once a week at Aldi less than a quarter mile away for replenishing basics.

My location always scans meat and things usually priced about $50

One less important thing that annoys me about Costco Executive is how their rebate works. It's not 1999 anymore. Don't give me a gift certificate. Sam's Plus gives its rewards in-app and more frequently, and I can apply them directly to my purchase. I don't have to wait for a piece of paper in the mail and remember to bring it with me.

One of the biggest factors contributing to the cult-like Costco following, is their lifetime returns policy for most everyday items, with few exceptions. Compared to that, Sam's offers only 1 year returns window.

Costco store brand products also tend to be better quality in comparison.

Sam's leaves Costco in the dust when it comes to products selection and variety. Costco often will have a grand total of 2 options for some products, i.e. 1 store brand and 1 mainstream brand.

I also have both memberships and rarely go to Costco. Scan&Go might change my mind if Costco's dinosaur IT folks ever implement that.

Rural midwest here and yes they still scan 3 items even with scan n go.
I also have both Sams and Costco and I find value in each. I think Costco has more frequent/better sales on premium products like Apple. I also think Costco carries better clothing options, esp. for women. Sams has slightly smaller amounts in some products which works for our 2 member household. Sams is also 30 min. away and Costco 1 hour. I get enough rewards on each to pay for upgraded memberships so will keep both for foreseeable future.

Lifetime meaning if you continue to be the members....right? What if at some point, or after the year of the purchase, you're no longer a member? Then it doesn't work.
