I'm not seeing anything mentioned in the product description that this set is brushless. That being said, $99 for three tools (sorry I don't count the light) and two batteries is still a good deal. Good find.

The specs say NOT brushless ("X" in the row for that feature). And although these are red cordless tools, they are NOT the preferred brand of red cordless tools, at least on this site!

Yeah, that is what I see too, I was just referencing brushless because the OP has brushless in the title. Might want to change that OP

I realize that these are not the same as the Sears Craftsman 20V tools that also sold for $100 a few years back and are no longer being made, but if they're anything like them then I'd only get this for light and occasional use, as both the drill and driver in the Sears kit failed me eventually. The chuck fell out of the body due to a faulty c-clip design, and the driver's internal gears started to grind after a fair amount of use.

Granted I used both to derust car parts using various brush attachments that applied side loads to their mechanisms, but it was still disappointing. They've since been replaced by a far superior Milwaukee M12 brushless hammer drill and driver kit for not much more, and an M12 die grinder for derusting which is SO much better for that.

Small step above black and decker or porter cable, or step below brushed dewalt. All made by same company, just made with small differences for different price range or for different stores. They are not even close to Milwaukee fuel or DeWalt xr, and they are not meant to be. If you need them to use them every day to make living, this is not it. It's meant for someone who needs for occasional use, or just these specific tools to finish project.

We're both right per the spec page. Will have to verify at time of purchase what battery actually comes with it.

I bought one of the $99 sets, a few years back, and have not had any problems with the tools. That said, I also have a Craftsman drill.(and a few attachments) I bought this after the B&D, and the Craftsman battery is losing power, whereas the B&D batteries still work well.

Were these Sears or Lowes Craftsman? Not the same, but I'm guessing of comparable quality given their price points and original owner.

They were the Sears Craftsman. I believe it was before Sears started closing up stores. They are more of an orange color, whereas Lowes is darker red.
They changed the design, when Lowes took over their tools.

This is an absolute smoking, incredible deal. The two batteries really clinch it. Unless you are using tools full-time as part of your trade job, this is more than sufficient for all your needs around the house and fix it.

In addition, if you don't have a Lowes card you can apply and if you purchase this and another $15, I think maybe a toolbelt?, You get 20% off the sale plus a $100 statement credit. So basically free. Anyone in the market for these types of tools as a hobby or for around the house would be crazy to pass this up.

After getting burned on the craftsman V60 tools I'm done buying their stuff. They seem to continually change designs leading to lack of interchangeability and long term support. Previously I had 19.2V craftsman tools that have lasted over 20 years and I can still get batteries for those tools today.
