I requested an unlock from the AT&T website without a SIM. It took six days, and I didn't have to go to Microsoft.
I got this phone last year. It's a great "device with a phone function ". Using it for a few months I find that it's not suitable for my daily life. You have to flip the phone open every time to see who is calling or messaging or just any notifications. It's hard when you have to take a quick picture on the fly. The things I like are, it's fast, 256gb/6gb ram, and you can run two apps at the same time and screen. But I sold it and bought a different phone. For this price I'm thinking about buying it again as a second device/backup phone.
Though the description says can't be unlocked. This can be unlocked via ATT portal .

Nope. Bought one over the holiday, and Microsoft and AT&T have refused to help in any way. Unless you currently have AT&T don't bother.

Feel like this should be $150 by now given the specs.

When someone get theirs in do this and tell us how it went. When I get mine I'm going to put a unactivated att sim in and see if that makes it unlock easier.

Anyone else find it interesting that MS gave up on their own mobile OS platform and now has to license Android from one of it's primary competitors?
It was a smart move just like giving up their own browser engine and switching to chromium. MS makes more money on services like Azure and dev tools to make apps on Android and iOS. Gotta go where the customers are. The real shame is MS not supporting the Duo because it has many enterprise use cases. I would've loved using it in the hospital to bring up patient charts on the go.

It was 12 months ago, but it sold out in 15 minutes.

At about $250+ for the past 12 months I'd say the fire sale has long gone out.

Now we need a fire sale on the fire sale.
