Hanging bikes perpendicular to the wall on which a rack is mounted may not be the best use of space.
Just get a couple of those rubber coated heavy duty ceiling hooks for and sink them about 5 ft apart into the rafters... Then the bike is up and out of the way
In case anyone is interested, I searched and these racks can hold bikes up to 50 pounds.

I got a couple 4'x8' SafeRacks and hang my bikes up like the picture shown, good for off-season storage but not the best for regular use during the warmer seasons.

That's what I thought. Who has room to still park their car or have other stuff? I need a bike rack but I don't have space for my bikes to be sticking out a mile from the wall.
I had this at a previous house. We mounted it facing the garage opening. It was mounted a little high so you just had to bend a little sideways between the hood of your car and the wheel of a bike to walk in the garage.

50lb limit is low. I'd be around 40+ lbs with attachments which doesn't leave much margin for error.

Can you mount them on the ceiling?

I thought the same thing. It may look organized but it is not saving space.

This is what I have used for years, suitable for open or drywalled ceilings, you just need to screw them into the center of the bottom of the trusses.

Doesn't work great when your ceiling is 12 ft high.

Good deal, thank you I'm in.

I don't get the hate for these. They come with hollow wall anchors for a reason. Hit two studs and call it good. I have some pretty heavy stuff hanging on mine, just dont hang heavy stuff at the ends where there's no screw and you'll be fine. As everything, it takes a little common sense.

i use something like these on a corner of the garage next to hurricane shutters. i mounted each to the concrete wall 10 inches apart and hang 4 bikes (in alternating fashion) in about 4ft of space. no real loss of space especially in a 3 car garage.

Needed this. Live in an apartment and was about to buy a wall mount of this style.

All you suburban losers, that assume everyone has a garage, can go kick rocks. Nobody is impressed that you screwed a hook into a rafter. Can you hang a tennis ball from a string too? Wow. I just came.

I wish I could with the vaulted ceilings in my climate controlled garage
