My DD is eligible to file her Federal and State taxes for free. Has anyone used this to file their taxes? Was it easy with no issues?

I used it years ago to help my brother file his taxes for free and it was easy. I would use them again if TaxAct stopped being free for me.

TaxAct was going to charge me this year for filing my state so I tried TaxSlayer. They wanted me to pay for the classic upgrade because I needed to use other forms such as Schedule D.

So I went with FreeTaxUSA and could file federal and state for free. Compared to TaxSlayer I would go with FreeTaxUSA first. The interface is nicer and more effortless. TaxSlayer wigged out as I was navigating the pages and I had to close the tab and then go back and log in to it to fix the navigation issues.

I used TaxAct for awhile until they started charging, then switched over to Credit Karma, which used to link to a Cash App free tax filing, that worked great for a couple years. Now I noticed Credit Karma links to Turbo Tax this year, and you don't find out it's $100 until the very end, screw that. So I just went back to the Cash App direct website and just filed for 100% free last night. Cash App was way faster and simpler than Turbo Tax anyways...

i used to use taxact and it would cost ~20 bucks for everything and then it spiked. shitty thing was i preferred their old software you could download and not use cloud services. but they phased that out and started raising the price.

i used credit karma 2 years ago and then it got spun off to square inc ("cash app"). filed with it last year without an issue. haven't filed it yet this year yet. you should be able to still use "cash app" free, i've been getting push notifications about it. i would imagine that credit karma links to turbotax now because they get paid as an affiliate.

I filed on the website and it felt sketchy but that was because you had to install square inc.'s app named "cash app". the name of the app is what felt dirty to me. it was for 2FA and i didn't have any issues. i don't remember what permissions it asked for but looking into android settings it currently has none. so i either restricted it once i filed or android did from never using it.
