Adorama is discounting the 2023 MacBook Pro 14.2" base model by $150 with code "APINSIDER".

https://www.adorama.com/acmphe3lla.html

Steps:
1. Add to cart
2. Go all the way through checkout, on the billing section, look at the top to add the promo code
3. Add "APINSIDER" for a $150 discount

This matches Apple EDU pricing for those who don't qualify. Not sure on the debacle around SSD speeds and M1 Pro vs M2 Pro overall. For $250 more ($1599 seems to be the lowest reliable price the M1 Pro hits), the newer model is slightly more future proof.

This deal may be eligible for up to 8% Cashback at Adorama with Cashback Rewards, a program exclusively for Slickdeals members that enables you to maximize your savings by earning Cashback Rewards Points on select deals found on Slickdeals. Points are redeemable for PayPal credit, gift cards and more. Sign up and start getting paid to shop.

Glad you could save $100. Found it by accident, was buying a small item in my cart and had the macbook there from yesterday when I saw the promo increased to $150 off Smilie

I know there are benefits to buying from Costco, but last time around, the M1 Pro 14" dropped to $1799 after a few months I believe (at Costco) and took a long time to go down to $1599. Get the M2 Pro for $1849 right after release doesn't seem too bad.

Not yet, there was a giant "rumor" thread that they would be marked down at Costco, but it didn't happen. Still $1599, same price it's been since before BF.

Some pros/cons to M1 Pro vs. M2 Pro.
M1 Pro has faster SSD performance in the base configs due to multiple chips (more throughput)
M1 Pro appears to run a bit cooler

M2 Pro has 2 more cores in base config
M2 Pro has Wifi 6E and BT 5.3

For $250 i'd get the newer model just because. If the M1 Pro goes to down $1499 i'd think long and hard, at $1399 i'd buy right away.

It would be great if people would post the specs. I guessed it was the base 16GB Memory, 512GB SSD model, but so frustrating to have to check/confirm almost every time one of these is posted.

If you are shopping for these or are familiar with these, then you already know only the base model is hitting these lower prices. I am glad everyone is posting. I was able to snag one deal before Christmas.

Several comments have mentioned Costco. It is $1,949 there if it is worth the warranty and such. here is a link:

Using Best Buy CC, I believe you could get 10% off using code q4fy23save10 and/+ 10% rewards if you received e-Mail promotion (expires 1/29). I've tried it on the more expensive 16" M2 Max and it works.

One thing to note, always check with your university if you went to college. Mine for example allows alumni to order it with an education discount and they don't charge tax. So if the discount isn't significantly less than the education route, I go that direction. Every campus store though tends to be unique.
