Found this Costco deal while being angry with paying HP ink prices. Comes with two black ink bottles. This model comes with duplex printing, which sets it apart from the other 2800 series models.

If I recall correctly, Epson EcoTank software is a bit behind, you might spend hours fighting the driver for refusing to let you scan or calibrate color accuracy.
I love HP printer software for being super easy to use and most scenario driverless.
However their filthy practices about ink cartridges DRM and always connected to Internet annoys me.
Now I'm using Canon printers. Although the software is not as good however their support of mopria technology make things much easier.

For the longest time, I've never moved away from HP printers because they were relatively reliable and ink lasted a good while. It wasn't until they got really scummy with their ink that I finally made the switch to Epson's ecotank series. It is a lot more $ upfront but it just makes for the long run.

My dad, who is on a fixed income, is of the traditionalist type that loves to print. Seeing him regularly buy $40 ink cartridges that dry out and print less than reasonable amounts was really painful. I have a refill kit to hack the cartridge but it's messy and inconsistent.

I've eyed this same printer for myself but haven't really seen it on sale until this deal, so I bought one.

I agree HP does make good sw for their printers. I got lucky and didn't have to deal with driver issues but Epsons are less polished in various areas.

I have an Hp printer that I use with instant ink. Costs 10 cents per print at the basic rate plan ($1 per month gives 10 pages, $0.10 for additional pages). I am tempted to buy this. But realize that I will need to print 2k pages on this to recoup $200! So may make sense to stick with HP. Thoughts?
