    They do make a very good product and I own several pairs (Ultra 3 and Ultra 4), but you need to research the boot / shoe to understand if it meets your hiking needs.

    Salomon and La Sportiva are great hiking shoe brands. I have this exact boot and they are quite good. Light weight compared to some other hiking boots but are still waterproof.

    Salomon is what Special Forces wears. They're the best. That said, I don't know about this particular boot.

    REI probably has the best return policy of any retailer. Its 365 days and you can use them. I just bought a pair of hiking boots and wore them on a 10 mile hike in wet conditions and returned them no problem because I didn't like them. It's like $5 for return shipping unless you can return to a store near you.

    I have the Solomon Outpulse Goretex hiking shoes and love them. I went a 1/2 size bigger for easier on/off, thicker socks & glad I did. Solomon makes good clothes/shoes but the fit has to be right, since not much wiggle room, so check other peoples reviews to make sure right for you.
